  • Simple Light Duty Drill Press Simple Light Duty Drill Press
I am using this drill press to replace the Dremel drill press since it seems more sturdy. The drill press is light weight and really only made for light duty use. The drill press itself is nicely constructed and comes with a metal (cast) vise and appropriate chuck/wrench. It works off of the AC adapter that comes with it or a lithium battery with it for portability. The drill press work find - again for light duty use - issues I have with it though, and why 1 star was knocked off: The AC adapter is so light weight, I wonder why it would be so bulky. It is also a generic AC adapter - 24v 10A. Note is is NOT UL listed. It's a decent enough adapter which includes a small internal fan to keep it cool. The product picture shows you can use it with a 12v lithium ion battery, but the adapter is 24vdc and the manual states to use an "18v 4000mAh Makita battery". Note this does not come with a battery, but it should have at least included a battery power adapter like some other manufacturers do. The unit arrived with a loose drill chuck. I had to take it apart to fix this. See pictures. The unit has one screw on the top that holds the cover in place. Taking the cover off, you will see the drill chuck shat is flat on one side allowing a set screw to tighten from the front, holding the belt pulley in place. The included all wrench fits the grub screw. Realigning the belt pulley with the shaft and tightening the grub screw got this going again. The unit is noisy - but not any more noisy than my dremel. The kit comes with a "metal" vise. The vise is cast metal. Extremely light and again, light duty. It was nice that it came with attachments for the versatility of ball shaped objects as well as square shaped objects. Overall a decent enough press for small projects requiring light duty use. The press is in the same price range of similar competitors and might be a little more stable than a dremel press, but value for the price for these little units is a little bit of a stretch. ... show more

  • Mini Bench Drill Press
This feels much more like a novelty item than a serious tool. The basic idea is interesting, and for very small hobby projects it may have some limited use, but there are several design issues that keep it from being very practical. Once the vise is bolted in place, you end up having to lay the drill on its side just to make adjustments unless you use spacers or constantly reposition your material, which becomes awkward pretty quickly. The motor was also concerning right out of the box. It has a smell similar to motor brushes already overheating or burning, and the sound of the motor makes it seem like the bearings may not be lubricated very well. It’s also limited to very small bits and lightweight work, so expectations should stay fairly low. Overall, this comes across more like a toy or demonstration tool than something intended for accurate or reliable work. Even for delicate projects like circuit boards, where you would think a small drill press might shine, I would still have concerns about precision and consistency. It may be fine for occasional light hobby use, but I would not consider it a substitute for a proper drill press. ... show more

  • Compact and Precise Benchtop Performance for Fine Crafting
Hobbyists, jewelry makers, and DIY crafters looking for extreme precision will find this mini benchtop drill press to be a fantastic addition to their workshop. It features a micro-sized footprint that sits easily on a small workbench or desk without crowding your workspace layout. The drill chuck handles tiny bits ranging from 0.6mm up to 6.35mm flawlessly, making it ideal for detailed work on wood, acrylic, soft metals, and circuit boards. It comes fully loaded with a matching precision vise, giving you a safe and rock-solid way to clamp down small components for perfectly straight drilling. The motor runs with a smooth, consistent rotation that prevents delicate drill bits from snapping under tension. Adjusting the drilling depth is highly intuitive, allowing you to make repeatable, identical holes for complex model building or jewelry crafting. The cast base provides enough heavy stability to prevent the machine from drifting or vibrating across the table while in use. It feels like a true industrial tool that has been scaled down perfectly for intricate, home-scale engineering projects. ... show more
