This kit is actually really well done. It has everything you you need to start a tree from seed. The instructions are well done. The box is quality wood. And the tools are real metal. This comes with 4 seed pouches that are all faster growing species. 4 burlap pots with plastic inserts and drainage holes and 4 soil disks. Really really well done kit Note here. Bonsai is not a species of tree, it is the art of dwarfing a tree over many many years. I highly recommend watching videos or reading books on the art of Bonsai. Starting a tree from seed will take 3 to 5 years before you can really do anything with them as of trimming/shaping. But don't let that stop you from getting a seed kit. Starting from seed is a wonderful way to learn the true art of Bonsai, and you form a relationship with the tree.

This is a great gift idea. The set up is really neat. The box is great and something you can keep around for other uses or to store your bonsai and other planting tools. It's not got much other use, other than being a cool box. The tools are cheap and really not needed for this kit. You'll either use the pruners for something else.... or hang on to them for many years because they won't need use until the bonsai is ready for pruning and shaping. The dirt pods... only really necessary in the beginning, but if you're really serious about growing anything you know that you'll need much better medium once anything sprouts. It does come with great instructions and tutorials. Everything needed to know to grow and shape your bonsai tree. However it doesn't really provide anything that'll be around long, other than the seeds and box, if that makes sense. The sentiment of this gift, OR the seeds alone, make it worth it.

I love that they give a very generous amount of seeds in this kit. I will be storing them in an airtight container in a cool, dark place because I plan on growing over the years. The jacaranda and delonix regia are the two strains that I am starting off with, one set for me and one set I am growing for my boyfriend's mom. Next, I'm doing the Black Pine and shaping it to be a mini Christmas tree for my house. It all comes in a nice reusable wooden box with a cover that slides in, along with some gardening tools, wooden plant labels, a water tray, and a booklet, making it a really nice gift for someone who loves gardening or would like to get introduced to it. I actually use gardening to keep my mind off of stressful things and it makes me more tolerable as a person overall when I'm less stressed.

This is SUCH a cute kit! Comes with 4 different types on bonsai trees. And everything you would need to set them up and grow them. I understand that these can take some time to sprout but this kit also comes with a paper that literally explains every step of how to grow them, and it's written in clear form so you can understand easily what to do. Directions are straight forward; I have already sown the seeds just waiting for them to sprout. Comes with a little set of tools as well as clippers to trim branches once it becomes larger in size. Soil, seeds, and tools all included. Great gift for yourself or a friend!

I am super pleased with the Bonsai tree kit. It comes with everything you need to plant and grow a bonsai tree. The directions are pretty clear and very easy to follow. It does take a while to get the seeds to begin to grow. We have followed the directions and watched videos on any tips or tricks to get a healthy bonsai tree to grow. So far, we have a tiny bud popping out of the dirt... so now we wait. The tools are nicely made-- they are not great... but for the kit purpose-- they do the trick and they work well-- long term-- I don't see them lasting or lasting if I use them with other planting items. Once the tree gets situated it will need a bigger pot, but for starting it out-- the kit and its essentials are perfect. Very pleased with the bonsai tree kit!

This set claims to be a bonsai tree kit and comes with four types of seeds, four bags of dirt, and a few tools (which are essentially useless). While the seeds are useful, pretty much everything else is not. Sewing multiple seeds in the same dirt bag will just lead to difficulty disentangling the roots of any seedlings and undue stress. What you really need is a seed starter with multiple compartments for multiple seeds. Further, you'll need multiple pots, training pots, wire, wire cutters, etc. which are not included. If you want to get into bonsai, this is probably not the best place to start.

This kit it awesome! 4 different type of bonsai all in one package. I recently bought a 4-5 year old bonsai and wanted to try growing my own. I have sprouted all but 1 of these seed but I still have hope for the last one. Comes with everything you need to get setup and has very clear instructions. This would make a great gift to almost anyone! So much fun and super cool. My son is excited and keeps saying “Five more years” since that’s how old we think our bigger one is. Great product! Maybe I’ll update this review in 5 years once they’re a little bigger.

The banzai kit is very easy to set up (as long as you follow the directions). When you put water in a bowl for the soil to expand, do not put too much. I did not notice the directions for the amount of water, and instead of wet soil, I put too much water, and had dirty water. I was able to strain it, and get enough to put in the jute bags. They have only been planted for a couple of days, so I will follow up when they start to grow, as well as get larger. The kit comes with everything, and plenty of seeds to grow more in the future.
