The drums arrived here within a day or two. That was good. Also, they are pretty, even if they do have a stupid name (the name is kind of embarrassing, but since they sound good and got more than four stars, I had decided that a kid that age wouldn't be embarrassed by it because he probably wouldn't know the difference). I mean -- how hip could a set of drums be if it is named "Hip Bongo Drums." If you're hip, you don't have to say so in your name. Anyway, I overlooked that because I was sure my grandson would love them. However, I gave only one star because I cannot use them as a gift at all, and his birthday party is tomorrow (they came tonight.) Why can't I use them? --Because although they are new, and were in a nice little zip-up "kit," they appear to be used and dirty, dirty, DIRTY!!! You could make fingerprints on them very easily and wouldn't even need a detectives fingerprint dust. The kid's mom is a germaphone. And with Coronavirus out there, she would go ballistic. So, I CANNOT give them as a gift. If they were for me, I probably wouldn't mind the dirt so much (that is, if I figured out how to clean them). But his birthday is tomorrow and I don't have time to get him another present so fast, so I'm just going to have to give him some cash. I hate doing that because it is SO TACKY, but there's no other choice as my city has no music store in town that sells bongo drums. In fact, I don't think we even have a music store here. I found the ticket in the box that says "This is to say THANKS and give you smile." I opened it and it said "your satisfaction is our top priority please whatsapp us if you are dissatisfied." (sic for both quotes.) So, I called the phone number on the card about eight times and each time that I called, I got a recording saying that the call would not go through and could not be placed. So, now I am very embarrassed but at this point there is nothing else to do. I cannot imagine that your quality control people would permit a dirty drum to be sent out. Especially in this day of Corona virus. Some of the fingerprints are dark smudges -- I'm sure a detective could get very good prints from them even without any fingerprint dust. I bought these for my 17yr old son who is a vocal music major, studying music theory and classical composes from all around the world. As you may know, any music lover can not be contained to one genre! He is grateful for any new instrument, but inside I know he is rather picky. Better said, he enjoys a quality instrument. The tuning set up is great for someone who studies many a variety of instruments and getting it tuned up or changing up tuning has brought him joy. Thanks for bringing another element of music into our home! And affordable to boot! Makes evenings fun with family together with the portable bongos, guitar, piano and other strings. Since we got the bongos he is looking into a used drum kit, and my youngest has used his gift savings to buy a Jr kit. He is planning on bringing them with him to NYC where he will sing with his schools touring choir choir at Carnegie Hall, so now you can say - "Carnegie Hall musicians give our bongos 5 stars!" ... show more

I was apprehensive to buy these given all the negative reviews, looked at plenty of much more expensive bongos, which I’m sure are of better quality. However I am incredibly happy I pulled the trigger on these. They seem to be of excellent quality for the money, they sound good and are perfect for beginners like me. Additionally it came with a 2 year warranty so if something does go wrong with them in the future I’m covered. I really just wanted something fun to do with my kids for a homeschooling music credit and these fit the bill perfectly. ... show more
