  • Very valuable marine navigation lighting for a very low cost.
My wife and I have been kayakers for several years, and occasionally we join other paddlers for brief moonlight paddles. Navigation lighting is especially important for small boats, but since kayaks don't typically require battery power, adding battery powered lighting can be a challenge. I ordered the Red and Green LED Boat Navigation Bow Lights hoping they could be powered from lightweight battery packs. I'm very happy to report that both lights for one boat can be powered for over two hours with a single 9v battery. After two hours, the battery voltage had dropped from 9.6V to 7.7V, so the lights do drain the battery rather quickly, but we've never taken a moonlight paddle that lasted two hours, so the single battery will work for us. A separate battery for each light would theoretically provide twice the time. If you glance at the pictures I've included, please be aware that the light strips were temporarily mounted on my kayak, and on the WRONG sides. The red lights should be on the LEFT side of the boat, and the green lights should be on the RIGHT side. My error, but the lights were temporarily mounted for the test. The light strips appear to be well made, and while they are flexible enough to fit the curve of a boat, they are sturdy enough to survive a gentle bump with other boats or a dock. The power cord terminates in bare wire ends and the wire ends are pre-tined for easy connecting. The power wires are over 30 inches long, more than long enough for mounting on my kayak. While the LED lights are rated for 12 volts, they are very bright at only 9 volts. The light strips have an adhesive backing for easy mounting. I'm very happy with the quality of the light strips and especially happy for their low power consumption. The two pairs of lights will equip both of our boats with night navigation safety for less than $15. To me that's a bargain. I think the two light sets easily rate five-stars. ... show more

  • Great Upgrade To Any Boat.
These LED strip lights are a great option, especially on today’s fishing boats with graphs and bow-mounted trolling motors, making it so that your bow lights need to be on a post to be visible. I already had a set of LEDs on my boat, so when I got a second boat, it was an easy decision: I would do the same on this one. These lights are sealed against the elements in a clear tube, with a very strong trim/molding tape for mounting. The wires are in a protective sleeve, and each light is marked for color on one end. Installation is simple enough: clean the hull where you plan to put them, remove the tape, and stick them on. I drilled a small hole to pass the wire through, connected the wires to the existing wires, then put a little silicone around the hole. My impressions of these lights are that they are bright and, because of their length, can be seen from longer distances than the lights with just one bulb. Another benefit of this type of light is for the people that are running bow-mounted trolling motors, and graphs that would otherwise block conventional types of bow-mounted lights. They are easy to install and are a great value. Another benefit of using LEDs is that they don't draw much power, so they won't run your battery down as fast as a bulb will. ... show more

  • Bright and affordable nav lights – great for small boats
What I liked: • Nice and bright LEDs — clearly visible at night. • Proper red/green color separation for bow navigation. • Slim, low-profile design fits well along the boat edge. • Good value for the price. Install: • Simple wiring setup (positive/negative). • Easy to mount along the bow or rub rail. • Flexible enough to follow slight curves. Performance: • Lights are bright enough for night boating and visibility. • Hold up well in typical conditions. • Low power draw, so they’re easy on the battery. Things to consider: • Adhesive backing is okay, but for long-term use you may want to add screws or better mounting. • Wiring could be a little thicker/heavier duty. • Not sure they meet full Coast Guard certification, so check if required for your use. Best use: • Small boats • Jon boats • Pontoon or fishing setups • Backup or secondary lighting Bottom line: A cheap and effective way to add or upgrade navigation lighting, especially for smaller boats or casual use. ... show more

  • These LED lights were exactly what expected- a decent upgrade to our boat
We have been want to install LED lights on our boat and this strip lights were exactly what I expected. We have some bulky light before that we decided to give us. These LED lights sit flush along the edges of the boat, giving a really streamlined, professional appearance. They don’t stick out or get in the way, which is great for keeping things looking neat and uncluttered. At the same time, they still clearly display the standard red and green colors, so there’s no compromise when it comes to visibility or safety. The LEDs produce a crisp, vibrant red and green that are easy to see even from a distance, especially in low-light or nighttime conditions. I’ve taken the boat out a few times after sunset, and I feel much more confident knowing that other boaters can clearly identify my position and direction. The light output is consistent along the entire strip too, so there are no dim spots or uneven sections. Another thing to mention is that they’re built to handle marine conditions, and so far they’ve held up great against water, splashes, and general exposure to the elements. The waterproof design gives me peace of mind, especially since they’re mounted externally and constantly exposed. Even after a few outings, they still look and perform like new. ... show more
