We only have a smaller 16 foot Jon boat but it seems that we end up going through boat covers bi-yearly. When it rains or snows, the liquid pools up on the cover and ends up weighing down the area and pulling it down into the boat. Eventually mold/algae starts to form and then not long after, rips begin to form. So far with using this support, the cover has been able to repel the water without sagging and pooling up. No more soggy cover. As long as this holds up, I can highly recommend using it to increase the lifespan of your boat cover and to keep the boat protected a little better.

I used these to hold up the tarp in my full windshield speedboat that has an aftermarket not custom cover. they seem to do the job at keeping rain from pooling in the tarp and sagging it down in the front and back seating areas in the boat. I did notice that the locking function slides down when tarp is pulled extremely tight or when heavy snow was sitting on the tarp. These are decent quality for the price but not something I would travel with or overly tighten down the cover in fear of breaking them. All and all these do what I need them to do for when the boat is stored.

This pole system works great but its only as good as the cover its supporting and the boat cover I have doesn't pull tight enough for this pole to make a difference. I still got water pooling after a rain, same as if I didn't use this pole system. My warning to you, this pole system is sturdy, attached easily and its heigh adjustable, but make sure you have a good enough boat cover that can pull tight or it won't make much of a difference.

This is a light weight solution to add height and support to my boat cover so rain and water does not pool while stored. Included are 3 straps with hooks on one end and snap clips on the other allowing easy set up and adjustment. Used on a 14ft boat but could easily be used on a 16 or 18 ft and maybe longer with the length of straps they include.

Yes, I admit it. I bought this because it’s the ULTIMATE Festivus pole!!! It’s adjustable with a sturdy base, made of carbon steel (perfect to withstand the “Feats of Strength”) and breaks apart for easy storage. No grievances to be aired here! . Frank Costanza himself would display it with pride! Even he couldn’t find a grievance to air about this BABY!

This pole does a good job of holding up the canvas cover to prevent the water and tree debris from pooling and weighing it down. The base is stable enough that it has not been knocked over by wind or storms and is still doing its job after two weeks. I look for this to keep working well for anyone who uses it, as long as they make sure to position it correctly and verify that it is stable before placing the cover over it. A simple idea that solves a big problem. Just as a side note, I did not use the straps that were included with the pole. We knew that we were only going to need this cover on the boat for a few weeks before we would be removing it for the season. In the fall, we will use a second pole and the straps to make it more stable for an extended period of use.
