The color is way more brown than I thought it would be and the butcher block pattern not as prominent. But it feels very high quality and is heavy! I bought black legs from Amazon and installed to make it a center table. Good value for money Feels smooth to touch and was packaged well so no dents or defects anywhere. It does say to apply oil or wax within 48 hrs of unpacking from cling film which I wasn't expecting. But applying oil didn't seem to make too much visual difference. Maybe for surface protection. It came a little dented on one side and three corners were dented, but the top four corners were fine, one was a little dented in but it's nothing to complain about since that side is hidden by my mic clamp.

This is 1000% laminate over some type of wood, and it is awful. Super disappointed in this order and its packaging is awful, as it was damaged in transit. Just junk.

Solid wood... but laminate covered NOT finished. Also, butcher block pattern is so light it just seems like a single piece of woodish material. True to size ordered, 36"x25"x1.5". Used for floating desk. Even with the near perfect packaging this thing came dinged and scratched. Most of the damage was hidden under and behind the desk. I would not trust this thing if I were using it for an actual counter top butcher block cutting surface. Aside from that it gets the job done but the description of this item is misleading. Just having the hevea wood stained and sealed in a butcher block pattern would have been a lot better. Would not have purchased if I knew this beforehand. ... show more

Seeing the reviews about bad shipping, I decided to take a gamble anyway, and it seems to have paid off! It came in pretty much unscathed, no dents or major scratches, though there was a small chip on one side, which was barely noticeable until I did close inspections. Luckily, it was just on one side, which I just used as the bottom. (This was just my shipping experience. The packaging seems fine, but how the carrier handles it matters a lot more) As for the feels and looks, it's a lot more browner in person, and the product images are a bit misleading, though I expected that, seeing other people's images. Rubber wood is naturally light and flat, so it's no surprise that when it's stained a darker color, the wood grain is barely visible. Despite what other reviewers say, I believe it is, in fact, a hardwood top, not laminate or veneer; you can faintly see on the sides the finger joints where the pieces are joined together. I'm no wood expert, but I do believe it is a full slab of real wood. Overall pretty happy with this purchase, currently using it as a new desktop and so far, its been great! ... show more

Not impressed. There do have a solid core but wrapped in a veneer. Not a real wood look or feel. Mine was also damaged upon arrival. I will try to hide the scratched and chipped corner in the back. Too bulky and heavy to try to return. I wouldn’t buy this Brand gain.
