  • I wish I would have bought one of these 40 years ago!!! Excellent build quality. Worth every cent of the bargain price!
I wish I would have bought one of these 40 years ago!!! (I realize they weren't around 40 years ago...but still...) This drill is absolutely amazing! I rented a mag-base drillpress several years ago for a different project I was building and it was fairly expensive, even just for a 2-day weekend. My current project requires a mag-base drillpress many, many times over a several month period. It would be cost prohibitive to either rent one repeatedly or buy another brand from any of several other sellers. This drill is very reasonably priced for the quality of tool you get. The build quality on this drill is excellent! In spite of its significant weight, in addition to simply using it on the floor/bench of my shop, I'm using it on an huge outdoor project, on scaffolding and ladders, on both vertical and overhead surfaces (3/8 thick plate) - and it works beautifully!!! These drillings would be impossible (or at least extremely dangerous) with a standard drill. Prior to buying it I was unsure how on earth I was going to perform these tasks (because of the above two $$$ reasons) until I spotted a tool review on Youtube (by ChuckE2009). The guy (who is extremely knowledgeable/skillful sometimes tends to be a little bit of a gorilla with things) was initially pretty critical of the drill, since he was used to using a $1200 professional model) but he quickly changed his opinion once he started drilling hole after hole in some 3/4" steel plate). He wholeheartedly recommended the drill to any non-professional...and that'd be ME. I read more Amazon reviews and finally took the chance and bought it. AM I GLAD I DID!!! (Also on a recommendation from ChuckE2009) I bought an 8-piece set of annualar bits (Accusize - H.S.S. Annular Cutter Set - 1" Cutting Depth, 7/16" - 1-1/16'', 8 Pcs/Set, #HCS1-0000). These bits, combined with this mag-drillpress cut through 3/8" thick plate like the proverbial 'hot knife through butter' !!! A month ago I had to use a large Milwaukee hand drill to enlarge some holes in these plates, and in spite of employing a 24" pipe for additional leverage, I still managed to nearly break my wrist twice. Had I been using this Bluerock drill instead, the task would have been MUCH safer, faster, accurate, and pleasant to accomplish! (Just use plenty of cutting oil and it should keep the bits sharp for a long time. I had never used annular bits before and now I'm sold on them!) I've only had the drill for about a month, but so far I'm completely sold on it and can HIGHLY recommend it. ... show more

  • Alaskan tested and approved!!!
Drilled 1200 1 1/4 inch holes in 3/8 plate drill had no problems, the oil bottle needs to have 1/4 inch lip removed i cut it off with a saw blade. i replaced with a rubber o ring and it then fits the threads for the on/off valve. great drill for the money made in america tough ass hell!!! mine fell 15 feet and didn't break i am amazed! ... show more

  • Good enough for a part timer
Handy tool. If I was a structural steel guy, I would splash out on a name brand, but this pulls you out of a hole if you need one. Magnet a little underpowered but does the job

  • Good product for the money
Purchased this mag drill to drill holes in one-inch steel plate. The drill worked very well, much better than expected for the price. Good points - drilled holes are square to the plate, speed appropriate for 1/2 and 5/8-inch drills, still running fine after about 100 holes. Not so good points - drill motor is very noisy - wear ear plugs. Also the supplied drill chuck is junk. I replaced it with a cheap Jacobs drill chuck for less than $15 - big improvement. While not on par with a drill several times the price, it is worth the money. I would recommend it, just plan on replacing the chuck. ... show more

  • good tool
the unit works well, has plenty of power, the magnet holds on fairly thin metal 1/8in, and good capacity. my only issues are every time I have to use it because of clearance I need the down feed handle on the other side.

  • The Real Deal
Product arrived quickly and works as advertised. So far, have drilled about 20 1" holes in 1/4" steel tubing with no problems. Very satisfied with the tool. Good value as well.

  • It is a good quality tool at a good price
It is a good quality tool at a good price. It would be nice if it had a lower speed range too. But it works very well and I like it. It's a keeper for me.
