I decided to compare these pearlescent paints with some metallic paints from another brand. I used some drawing paper so not really a good representation of how they would do on something better suited for it, but I mostly wanted to see how they looked in comparison with the shininess and color. The Bluebird paints are on the right-hand side of each column, and the other brand is to the left. The first thing I noticed about the paints was that they were quite thick, not to the level of tube acrylic, but not far from. They do have a slight odor that is different than the usual acrylic paint smells I'm used to, not bad, just different. I do think that the copper and bronze colors are mislabeled, since the copper from the metalics looks like the bronze of the bluebird paint, and the bronze looks more to match with the bluebird copper. Still, I liked the shininess of them and found the colors a bit brighter than the other brand metallics. The silver doesn't show as much in the picture but is a good bit lighter than the metallic silver. They seem to have a lot of pigment and I'm interested to see how nicely they work diluted a bit. Some other things I noticed, but not that relevant, but these are made in Pakistan over China. I've gotten used to many of the newer products being made in China, so it was kind of a surprise. The bottles are also bigger than the standard craft paint bottles, which was nice. They do specify 100ml, but from the pictures, they look a bit like the 2oz craft paint bottles, but they are definitely bigger. I have another of their products that I liked as well, so I'll have to pay attention to them in the future, so far they seem to be making good art products.

I ordered the primary colors set, which offers a good selection of basic popular craft colors. The lemon yellow and vermilion red are excellent vivid colors with high tinting strength. However, the cerulean blue seems to be a light phthalo blue mix that is a bit gunky and streaky, requiring a good shake before use. The sap green is much darker, suitable for painting darker evergreens, but not ideal for mixing. The white and black perform well for tinting and other needs. The satin finish and quick-drying paints are of much better quality than I expected at this price level, even compared to Liquitex, Gordon, and other artist-grade acrylic paints. Although these do not come with pigment information or lightfastness ratings, I found most nontoxic acrylic paints to be very fade-resistant during my months of testing with direct sun exposure. I plan to test these alongside other brands on my color charts, but based on the pigments I assume used, I believe they will hold their color well. The main downside is the container. The plastic is quite thin and rigid, making it tougher to squeeze out the paint compared to other acrylic paint bottles. I accidentally dropped the yellow bottle from only about a foot and a half, and it shattered at the bottom, spilling a large amount of paint and creating a huge mess. If you’re having a kid work with these paints, I would recommend mess-proofing the area in case a container is dropped. Nevertheless, getting six 3.38 fl oz larger-sized bottles for under 10 dollars is a great deal for craft use. For the paint quality alone except for the blue, I would rate these five stars if they came in better containers.

I've used three of the colors so far and they are awesome. The viscosity is nice and thick, but workable. Blending it with a thinner, or water, was very easy. It wasn't extremely sheer as well; it was almost completely opaque when I used it with just one coat. I would also say that they are true to the color descriptions as well. The gold is a nice true gold; not too yellow or brown.

Although I have only used these on a few small projects thus far, I am extremely happy with them. The colors in this set are certainly one of my favorites to date, it's quite rare to find colors this unique all in one set. They went on smoothly and most projects have not needed a second coat. It also took very little product to get the job done, I actually ended up putting the unused product back into the bottle. I will say in the product information area it's states they are for interior use, yet several lines down it states they are for outdoor/indoor use, so I am not sure which is correct. I did repaint a faded outdoor garden item I have so I will spray it with an exterior sealer just in case. I do feel the paints have a funky odor to them (not like fumes), it's just odd. They almost smell like the outdoor plastic flowers, that's the best description I can provide.
