🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Blue Buffalo cat food receives high marks from pet owners for improving cats' coat shininess, resolving stomach issues, and providing a well-liked variety of flavors without the use of by-products, corn, or soy. However, reactions among different pets vary, as some cats initially enjoyed the food but later became disinterested. Additionally, a rare quality control issue was reported, although this seems to be an exception rather than the norm.

Pros

  • 🐾 Improves coat shininess and digestion
  • 😺 Contains no by-products, corn, or soy, and uses mostly all meat
  • 👍 Cats generally enjoy the taste, including the flaked versions
  • ♻️ Positive long-term health effects reported by long-time users

Cons

  • 😕 Some cats may grow bored or disinterested over time
  • 🧐 Rare instances of quality control issues with packaging or food quality
  • 💲 Price may be higher compared to other options

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a higher-quality cat food option that supports digestion, coat health, and overall well-being, and you're willing to pay a bit more for natural ingredients, Blue Buffalo is a great choice. However, be prepared for the possibility that your cat may not maintain interest in the long term, and keep an eye out for any rare quality issues upon purchase.

  • Better for kitty than many others!
Flavor Name: Chicken, Turkey & Chicken, Oce... Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I’m a wildlife biologist, so I spend a lot of time thinking about what animals eat—and that includes my cat. I’ve seen firsthand how poor nutrition affects long-term health and, unfortunately, a lot of cat foods contain fillers and/or artificial flavors (lookin’ at you, Fancy Feast). Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they must eat meat to survive. They rely on nutrients found only in animal tissue—like taurine, arachidonic acid, and preformed vitamin A—and can’t synthesize these on their own from plant sources. While they can digest small amounts of plant matter, it’s not nutritionally necessary and offers limited benefit. In the wild, any plant material they consume usually comes from the stomachs of their prey or as an incidental nibble (like grass). Their digestive systems are optimized for meat, not starch; because carbohydrates aren’t needed to meet their nutritional requirements, they have low levels of the enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates. Not all grains are evil, but they’re often used in cheaper pet foods as inexpensive fillers—to bulk up the food instead of using more meat. That can lead to weight gain, kidney trouble, blood sugar spikes, and food sensitivities. Fillers mean lower quality nutrition — grains don’t provide the amino acids cats need (like taurine), so foods that rely heavily on them are less nutritionally complete. I feed my kitty Blue Buffalo Tastefuls, which is a good balance of quality/nutrition and cost. It comes out to be about $1.44 per 5oz can, which isn’t bad if you take a look at what other brands cost for lower-quality food. It’s made with real meat products and doesn’t rely on cheap fillers like corn or soy. TL;DR: Blue Buffalo Tastefuls edges out brands like Friskies, 9Lives, Whiskas, Fancy Feast, Sheba, and Cat Chow because it’s made with real meat as the first ingredient—none of that mystery meat by-product business. It skips the artificial flavors and preservatives, and doesn’t bulk things out with cheap fillers like corn, wheat, or soy. Tastefuls is packed with protein and has a more natural ingredient list overall, which means better nutrition, healthier coats, and happier bellies. Plus, picky eaters tend to go nuts for it—without the upset stomach afterward. ... show more

  • Quality cat food no fillers great price
Flavor Name: Salmon, Chicken, Ocean Fish & ... Size: 3 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I like it and my cats like it It doesn’t have fillers and it’s high in protein Quality ingredients I found out about it when my supervisor put 24 cans on my desk and said here I bought these on sale. My cats don’t like it. I took it home and my cats have been eating it ever since I like that it’s good quality and inexpensive I also get the blue buffalo dry also with quality ingredients Their main food is dry wet is maybe a quarter of what they eat because I’m concerned about wet food sticking around their teeth I used to buy a really good quality dry cat food, but I bought it directly from the manufacturer it took a long time for delivery and it was a little more expensive It was really meant for diabetic cats so I started looking around for other less expensiveoptions preferably on Amazon because delivery is so reliable I’m glad I found blue buffalo on Amazon because it’s so easy to order. I’ve got it set up on subscribe and save. ... show more

  • Even crunchy Betty loves this!
Flavor Name: Tuna, Chicken, Fish & Shrimp Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 12)
All of my cats are loving this Canned Cat Food. I have one super duper kibble addict and she turns her nose at every wet cat food I've bought. I have been looking for a wet cat food that has the first 5 ingredients as real food and not byproduct and this was the best affordable choice. Since I have 3 cats I'm on a budget and thankfully they all love it. No leftover food in their bowl. The dry kibble can cause UTI's in cats so making the switch will really help in the long run. ... show more

  • Bigger cans and a great value
Flavor Name: Tuna, Chicken, Fish & Shrimp Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 12)
Decided to try this type of blue buffalo version of cat food since the wilderness one takes longer to deliver and I'm surprised how large the cans are! Tried pate of the wilderness one and she hates it because she usually eats the meaty morsal ones so I'm thinking the flaked version of close to it and she gobbled it up. Hoping she likes all the flavors and has no issues eating it. Kinda scared with some of the reviews of cats throwing up and getting sick on this so I hope this doesn't happen with my cat. Update: Although my cat doesn't have any issues with throwing up she isn't eating it like she did when I first bought it. Also the more I look at it the quality isn't as good as the meaty morsal ones I've purchased in the past. I think after careful consideration I'll stick with the wilderness meaty morsals one. Yes it's smaller and more expensive but I feel it's better quality then this one. Sometimes you get what you pay for. This food is ok if you are on a budget and want to try it out but I don't think it's good quality even though it's from blue buffalo. ... show more

  • Cats like it
Flavor Name: Tuna, Chicken, Fish & Shrimp Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 24)
My cats love this food. It’s become the only canned food they’ll eat anymore. Apparently, they like the taste. The size of the cans is a good portion- I split one can between two cats. It looks gross, but what canned cat food doesn’t? Fair warning, it also stinks horribly. Total fishy scent. But overall, if your cat likes it, it’s worth what you pay. ... show more
