  • As good as “Blue” is likely to ever sound!
Although not a musical tour de force, Blue is a masterpiece of emotionally moving lyrics. Generally recognized as Joni’s crowning artistic achievement. Mobile Fidelity brings out the very best of Joni’s famous work. This is mostly beautifully crafted poems of love lost or never found. Lovingly sung by Joni. Way to go Mobile Fidelity…fine sound quality as always. ... show more

  • Beautiful Album! Joni's "Blood On the Tracks" !
This is a very beautiful album that I never get tired of listening to. It reminds me a lot of Dylan's classic "breakup" album which happens to also be my favourite album of his "Blood On the Tracks" as well as that classic Carole King masterpiece, "Tapestry". Joni's voice is so heartfelt and her lyrics so meaningful, it's no surprise how much this album has inspired so many great singer/songwriters after her. I could hear a lot of what Kate Bush would later sound like on this as well as some Tracy Chapman and Suzanne Vega as well. Now this version has been released in a mini lp replica sleeve design which pretty accurately recreates the original lp design. We all know that for years now, the Japanese have been the masters at mlps cds and they still have the edge over Rhino at least for now. The Japanese have the good sense to include a plastic sleeve for the cd to prevent dust and more importantly scratches from damaging the shiny side of the cd. Otherwise, the outer cardboard sleeve is well done and is good quality unlike some of the other mlps versions I've seen out there that have flimsy or poor quality, thin cardboard covers. I don't actually mind the fact that there are no bonus tracks as I feel that most of the time, bonus tracks do not add to the enjoyment of the original album tracks and many a time actually spoils the listening enjoyment when they are countless outtakes or alternate takes of album tracks or worse interviews and obvious filler material. Otherwise, if you don't mind the propensity for the lack of proper plastic protection for the cd to result in scratches on the data/music side of your cd, then for lovers of the mlps format, this may be a worthwhile addition to your other Joni Mitchell albums. Overall, I like the whole Rhino Replica idea but I hope they'll take my comments seriously and seek to better protect the discs from damage and also seek to remaster and hence improve the sound quality of future releases. The following are just some of the albums I'd love to see as Rhino Replicas: "Decade" - Neil Young "After the Gold Rush" - Neil Young "Deja Vu" - Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young "Back In Black" - AC/DC ""Partners In Crime" - Rupert Holmes "No Goodbyes" - Daryl Hall & John Oates "Abandoned Luncheonette" - Daryl Hall & John Oates "Not Fragile" - Bachman-Turner Overdrive "Van Halen I & II" - Van Halen "L.A. Woman" - The Doors (all remastered with plastic cd protecting sleeve in addition to the paper sleeve and please no bonus tracks) ... show more

  • Excellent Pressing
If you're familiar with Joni Mitchell, then you know that this is an excellent, classic, flawless album. So my review isn't about the music. It's about the 2021 remastered vinyl. I was afraid that priced at $20, I'd get a bad vinyl but imagine my surprise when this turned out to be one of the best vinyl albums in my collection of near 30. There is no surface noise, no popping or hissing, and the music plays as clearly and beautifully as if the album was released yesterday. And I got it quickly and in great condition without any major setbacks or hitches. My only regret is that I didn't get a clear copy. If you're a fan of music or you're looking for the next record to add to your collection, look no further than this. Get it quickly before they're all gone! ... show more

  • One of her best records
This is really one of Joni's best recordings. It is soulful and deep, and she allows you to see into her soul here. It is very autobiographical, as are many of her records, but I think this one got closer to the nerve than many. She had broken up with Graham Nash (who wrote Our House when they were still together) and was in a relationship with James Taylor. Her trip to LA to see him on the set of a movie was the subject of "This Flight Tonight", and Taylor's heroin addiction and their breakup was the subject of the song "Blue". I was always moved by the song "Little Green", and the lyrics made me wonder if she had given up a child for adoption. This was strengthened when I heard her sing a live version recorded at a cafe in the late 60s or early 70s, and she sang the last line in the refrain of the song (which was usually "Little Green, have a happy ending) as "Kelly Green, have a happy ending". Years later she revealed that she had given up her daughter, Kelly, for adoption. How painful it must have been to sing that song. In 2000, Blue was honored by the New York Times as one of the 25 albums that were "a turning point and pinnacle in 20th century popular music". It was a well deserved honor. This is a deep, and indeed sometimes a blue album. This is Joni at her soulful best, with high soaring notes and true emotion in her voice. ... show more

  • Album sounds great, but album sleeve came damanged
The album itself is fine. I'm taking a star away because this as supposed to be mint condition and there is. Large seam split blowout on the top of the sleeve due to poor package or because it was incorrectly described. I recommend buying from your local shop

  • Great album
I became obsessed with this album especially the song “little green”. When Joni Mitchell pulled it from Spotify I purchased the vinyl. Now I give her no more money for a song released many years ago and I can listen to it as much as I want.
