  • Beautiful, functional, and a BEAST. There are a few tiny issues tho..... Beautiful, functional, and a BEAST. There are a few tiny issues tho.....
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
First I would like to say that this is my second BLU phone. I bought a BLU energy phone a few years ago, and was very happy with it. Second this my friends, is an absolutely awesome device. The screen quality is very good, and just the right size to be big but not TOO big. Blacks are black, colors are bright and vibrant. Impressive for an LCD screen. There is NO Bloatware on this device. Basically stock Android 10. Very refreshing to see a company not install useless apps. Third this thing can game. I place several games, one of them being real racing 3 which has brought a few of my other phones to their knees. This phone handles it no problem. Fourth, the fingerprint sensor works very well. Although there is only one down firing speaker, it gets very loud. They included case, and screen protector are just bonuses. This phone looks and feels absolutely premium. I have been a fan of BLU for a long time. I didn't need another gaming phone as I have one of the best in the world, (ROG Phone) however because I support BLU and what they're doing, I bought this and I'm very pleased with my purchase. To be honest, I am actually using this as my daily device because of the huge battery and larger screen. Folks, this is their flagship phone. And for around $200 there is absolutely no reason not to give this phone a try. You will be pleased, just as I am. Another nice thing about this phone is it is not only dual sim, but has expandable storage. It comes with 128gb standard, plus I added a 128 GB SD Card for 256 gigs of space. I use this phone on the straight talk program from Walmart and it works flawlessly. 4G LTE all day and all night. Bluetooth works awesome, wireless charging is amazing and the fact that it comes with everything you need out of the box makes this a must have for any game or on a budget. There are a few “meh” things to keep in mind: The screen is not Gorilla Glass. There is a tempered glass screen protector, however. Use it. The included charger is not that quick. It takes well over two hours to fully charge the battery from 30 percent to max. The battery while large, doesn’t last as long as I had hoped. It does the job and gets me through two days of moderate usage, but I did expect slightly better. There is also a slight lag each time you turn on the device. It seems to take about three seconds for the phone to become usable. It does work beautifully after that time passes. Thank you for your time and I really hope you will consider making this your next gaming phone. ... show more

  • Very Impressive!
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
I recently purchased the Galaxy A31. It's not a phone that's available directly in the US, but I was able to pick one up from another retailer. The camera was great and the screen was fantastic, but that's about it. Their implementation of the Mediatek processor was lacking and updates didn't help. So much for the gleam of Samsung devices. I saw the Blu G90 Pro was released as a "gaming phone" and was curious. I've had Blu phones in the past and they were fairly decent for the price, but not much more than that. I've had this phone in-hand for the last 24 hours and I've been very impressed with everything about it. -Design- The screen-to-body ratio is perfect. I have just enough bezel to hang on to without obscuring the screen. The teardrop camera is so 2019 (#sarcasm). I know some don't like teardrop cameras, but I don't mind. I love the purple and the back and frame feel premium even if they are plastic and aluminum, respectively. -Display- Yes, it's an IPS panel and not amoled. Considering the price this is a fair trade-off. However, I'd put this screen up against most others at the $400 - $500 mark and would be hard-pressed to see a huge difference. Would I prefer OLED with a 90Hz display, sure, but you're not going to find one in the $200 - $250 that works as well as this phone. -Performance- I was able to play Fortnite on medium to high settings for extended periods without any stutter or pixelization. It was fantastic. I can't wait for someone to do a teardown to see how this thing is made. Cause the cooling is spot on in keeping the performance just right. Non-gaming use is just as good if not better. I was running over a dozen apps with normal use, flicking between screens, with no lag or stutter. I'm shocked at the level of performance. -Value- I don't think I can say it enough. I'm very impressed with this device. I was able to grab it at the initial $200, but at the normal price of $249 I would have no regrets. Also, you get a case that fits well in the hand and has extra venting for extended gaming sessions. As usual Blu includes earbuds. They are fine and do what they need to do, but they're nothing exceptional. The tempered glass screen protector was nice as well. -Final Thoughts (for now)- I don't think you can beat the value of this device. Good gaming performance for the price. There are some trade offs with the screen only being LCD/IPS and there's only 4GB of memory, but you really don't notice these things when you have the device in hand. Did I mention it also has wireless charging (WHAT?!)? In all seriousness we'll see how things go in the way of security updates and updates in general. This is one area where Blu has historically struggled. I'm looking forward to posting positive updates as long as Blu keeps up the good work. ... show more

  • Good for the price but lacking in several areas.
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
I bought this after my OnePlus got smashed at my job, I didn't want to pay another larger sum for a new OnePlus but needed a new unlocked phone quickly. All in all, you get what you pay for. This is excellent for the price. If you are on a $200 budget or you simply don't want to spend a lot and don't mind a few lost conveniences then I would highly recommend. It looks nice (love the purple, it's mostly what drew me to chose this one in the end), it's fast enough, the camera looks great al thought might be a tad slow, fingerprint reader works well, screen is clear and bright, haven't had any connectivity issues. It's hard to complain about small things when you consider the price but it is missing several features I thought it would have our would do better, all of which I find myself missing or found out I simply can't do certain things I need without them, most importantly is NFC (for Google Pay mostly), and WiFi Calling (I used when I'm out at my grandparents in the country, I used it often as it's required to connect to the wifi onboard certain flights and I travel a lot) and the bluetooth will only automatically connect to 1 device at a time, for me this is frustrating as when I get into my car it auto connects to the car (for calling) but does not connect to my bluetooth radio until I open bluetooth and connect. Some apps I used to use do not work on this phone, they simply will not load when opened. Probably my biggest pet peeve about this phone is the volume control steps are too far apart. If you're listening to music and it's too quiet you'll tap the volume up once and then it's super loud, so you always have to decide whether you want it too loud or too quiet. Biggest pro about this phone is the battery life. I wasn't expecting it to last as long as it does even knowing how large the battery was before purchase. It will easily last me 2 days with normal use (I have gone 2 days before charging), and probably could last 3 with lighter use. If I'm doing heavy use (which for me is traveling, I will play a lot of games, including ones that use GPS which adds to the battery draining) I can still b usually get a full day before even thinking about a charger. Other than when the phone arrived without charge I have not seen this phone go below 15% battery. I haven't gotten to test the wireless charging since I don't have a wireless charge pad, but I would guess if you had 1 or 2 of those in key places you would never have to worry about charging ever... Great phone overall, especially considering the price, but I think I will go back to OnePlus. ... show more

  • So far it seems almost too good to be true at the price point.
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
Now in all honesty I am not exactly a tech guy, I tend to take care of my things and only upgrade when they just are too far behind the times, so its been like seriously 5 or so years since I picked up a at the time decent off brand 3g capable phone here on amazon from a brand called POSH. Not even sure if they are still around, bit it held up and did mostly what I could want from a low priced phone at the time. Now onto my new Blu, or Hazel as I named her.;) I wanted to get something solid, that again would stand the test of time and not make me feel like i was toting around some clay tablet in a few years. And this little beauty seems to have the power to stand up to challengers in the budget battlefield for a while yet to come. I am just blown away by so many of the little QoL features. the included case is very nice, its style is very akin to the tactical look many are going for, in a nice black carbon fiber kind of texture to give a nice grip. So if you want pretty you can keep her naked, or want her ready for war, put on her armor. She has a nice weight, and I think her shell may even be metal if such can be fathomed on a low price phone in this day and age of fragile plastics. The included case also has nice vent features to help it keep cool. Speaking of cool, it said something about using liquid cooling tech and i am inclined to believe this, as she has yet to feel to hot and bothered in my hands, honestly she feels icy if you strip off her armor. I dont exactly game on my phone much so am not using that aspect a lot, but i am loving the camera. most phones on the budget arena have barely tolerable cameras. This one while not top tier is more then enough to actually enjoy playing photographer on the fly if the whim strikes. Something that was a mild hobby for me in my youth, and something keeping my spending on phones down to a modest degree has denied me enjoying in this casual fashion for the most part with previous cam tech on phones. So the camera feature is one I can really give a thumbs up to for those who have that as a feature they care about. Over all I am just loving her, and hope to figure out all her tricks and secrets that an older guy who lacks the savvy may take a fair while to uncover. ... show more

  • My second BLU phone
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
Back in late 2017, I bought a BLU Vivo 8 for about the same price as this phone: the BLU G90 pro. With the BLU Vivo 8, i was super impressed with the build quality, as well as the speed and specs of the device for the price point. I'm happy to say three years later in 2020 that BLU is still workin' their magic; this thing DOES NOT disappoint. BLU makes no BS, purpose driven devices that really hold up. What I needed was a GSM unlocked phone that works seamlessly with Straight Talk. While I was impressed with the specs on a lot of Xiaomi devices, I was let down when I found that they didn't have the supported bands needed for Straight-Talk services. My alternatives were Samsung (pretty much the premium overpriced stuff) or motorola/huawei/LG sort of budget phones. I had Motorola and LG in the past and I can't really speak highly of those phones around this pricepoint. Maybe they've improved since I've had them last, but seeing how well my prior BLU purchase was, I wanted to give it another go. PROS: -Very solid build quality -One stop shopping (includes case, 18w charger, headphones, tempered glass cover) -Little-to-no bloatware -HUUUGE battery/Wireless charge -So fast, very responsive (d/t G90T processor and very basic UI) -Games and intense apps arn't sluggish and phone doesn't get hot CONS: -Only one bottom-firing speaker, sounds a little tinny but it puts out a LOT of sound -No NFC (i don't use it anyway) -Would have liked 6gb of ram, but 4 is plenty for me -About 1 ounce heavier than my last phone (about the weight of a AA battery), but hardly noticeable -Only one color, fortnite purple, but it doesn't look half bad and the included case looks amazing They market this as a gaming phone, but that's probably because the phone market has gotten so dang competitive. Even if you're not the "gaming type" that shouldn't dissuade you from picking this thing up. This phone is a big, purple gem in the rough that punches above its weight. ... show more

The USB 3 main & only physical port stopped working. It can't even dectecy a cable place in NO WAY TO CHARGE (IE, TO WIT: NO CHARGE POSSIBLE, A THIN VERY SLIPPERY BRICK. NOW I CAN STILL AT THE M9MENT CHARGE WITH WIRELESS CHARGER, BUT NO WAY/NEED TO BRING ANY BACKUP, IT WON'T CHARGE OR TRANSFER ANY DATA IN OR OUT VIA THE ONLY PORT, A USB 3, WHICH I THOUGHT & MAY BE THE BEST VERSION OF THE USB CABLE. USED TO EVEN YEARS AGO AND an old now unless system number, the fingerprint reader had always been flawless. EVEN THE FINGERPRINT READER ON THOS MODEL SUCKS. IT WON'T RECOGNIZE ANY FINGER, NOT ALL THIME BUT USUALLY WHEN YOU NEED SEMI-PERSONAL INFO TO SHARE (GOSSIP) WILL TAKE SEVERAL TRIES AND OFTEN HAS TO DEFAULT TO THE PASSWORD OR SCREEN DOT PATTERN YOU MAY CHOOSE. SCARED A BIT NOT HAVING RELUABLE SURE TO WORK AT ALL TIMES, BUT FAST RECHARGING OF BATTERY COILD LEAVE ME HELPLESS ANYWHERE. The included hard plastic case that comes with phone CAN charge wirelessly WITH CASE ON. 2. Can only afford low end unlocked no contract cell phones. But need it now for most internet etc use too. The $200 price was a bit above my price range, BUT WORTH IT. 3. It is the fastest phone I've ever owned. 4. Good call quality BUT NO WI-FI CALLING 5. COMES W ANDROID 10. • Disappointed!
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
I'm disappointed because Blu offers a great higher end phone for a fantastic price, but this one misses the mark. I've barely had it a year, & don't want to spend $200+ to replace it. I feel I'm stuck with it because the warranty is out, & although I should have taken care of it before waiting, I'm now going to need to find another phone. This is the second Blu phone I've had. I loved my first one, & decided to buy a second when it begin to have issues. I purchased the Blue Pro 90, not to use as a gaming phone as it was advertised, but because of its features in general. I wanted the battery life, the storage capacity, & the speed of prices while using multiple apps. I had it about 2 months & begin to see small issues, stupid me, I kept thinking it might be something I was/wasn't doing, & plugged along. The performance only got worse, & now it's been a little over a year, & it's a joke. The feedback you get, such as, 'message sent', 'call ended', etc, stats on the phone, covering your keyboard, function buttons, navagation bar, etc, for 3-5 minutes. Regardless of the promise the battery life is 'outstanding', & can handle gaming, it doesn't. I don't game, at all, but the battery gets warm, with or without the special vented cover it comes with to keep it from doing so. The fingerprint reader barely works, the settings menu is a pain to navigate, the 'search' feature in settings ALWAYS says, 'no matches', no matter how you enter a search. There are practically NO helps or instructions for ANY problem you have, no trouble shooting, etc. Granted, I'm not a phone geek, or a technological fireball, but I can manage my way through a good amount of 'advanced' adjustments, settings, & issues, & what I can't handle, my phone/computer genius son can. He's the IT guy everyone calls to fix computer/phone/tablet issues, & he's generally a fan of BLU, but even he's not impressed with all the promises this phone makes. The settings are buried deep, even some of the simplistic, everyday things, & it lacks a few of the simpler settings my first one had. It's not user friendly for most people I've talked to. If you're just using it for calls, text, general web browsing, & for or five simple apps, you'll fair okay, but I'm an extensive app user, & use my phone for everything. I'm semi-handicapped health wise, & confined to a chair most days, & with all the Covid/health stuff, my phone is important & allows me to pay bills, shop, have access to current issues, & news, & keys me keep in touch with my friends & family. It offers the security of being able to reach my husband when he's working, or help if I need it quickly, & I feel like this particular phone with its seemingly small, but important issues, hinders those abilities a good amount of the time. It has slowed down a call for immediate help, because of the feedback messages blocking my screen, or a hesitation of operation. All in all....I don't recommend this phone, unless, as I said, you just want the general/basic functions of text, calls, & a couple of simpler apps. ... show more

  • BEST BLU PHONE TO DATE
Style: G90 PRO Color: Purple Haze
I have been using BLU phones for quite some time. This G90 PRO has got to be the best phone to date. The other BLU phones I purchased before the G90 PRO, battery went bad within a few years. Now I can get 2-5 days (depending on how much I use it) but I think that may have something to do with the operating system as well and how it manages battery life in standby mode. In addition, there is no way (without rooting the phone) to upgrade the operating system. BLU just didn't provide the upgrades and without rooting the.phone, the latest operating system could not be installed (sorry I digressed). With this G90 PRO, BLU is providing updates including security patches. The only drawback is that BLU is behind the curve. With that I mean that we should already be on Android 11 as Android 12 will be available this summer or early fall 2021. Unfortunately, BLU still has not provided the update. Another drawback of this phone is that there is no NFC sensor allowing you to use transfer data between devices or use credit card devices securely with the phone. In addition, if you're using a carrier that provides 5G, this phone cannot take advantage of it as it doesn't have 5G data capability. However, If you're on a WiFi network that has 5G, you can use that without any problems. That's it for now. Will update if needed. UPDATE: Received word from BLU that they are working on the Android 11 update. However could not provide an estimated time as to how long it will be before it's released but the word this individual was sounding, it should be in the 4th quarter (but no guarantees). UPDATE 2: After WAITING and WAITING... NO UPDATE TO ANDROID 11 or 12. Called BLU technical support and they indicate there is no timeline on the Android 11 or 12 update. They indicate that their software team is working on it but will not give any timeline or anything else. Even though it's indicating within the Amazon writeup for this phone that Software Updates are included, the only ones received were security updates for Android 10. They are indicating that the G90 PRO is their flagship phone and they guarentee an update to Android 11 or 12 is coming. What year is the question! ... show more
