I purchased this phone specifically for Android app development — Google requires testing on a physical device before submitting to the Play Store, and at this price point, the BLU C5L MAX seemed like a reasonable way to check that box. For that narrow purpose, it works. My app loaded and ran without issues, and the phone does technically function as an Android device. That said, the overall user experience is rough. The phone arrived with a completely dead battery out of the box, which meant waiting for a charge before I could even begin setup. Once powered on, every interaction felt sluggish. Simple tasks like navigating settings and enabling developer mode were an exercise in patience — individual button presses consistently took over a second to register. This is on a brand-new device with no additional apps installed, so performance would likely only degrade further with regular use. With 2GB of RAM and the entry-level hardware, the specs do set realistic expectations, but the lag goes beyond what I'd consider acceptable even for a budget phone. I genuinely cannot imagine using this as a daily driver for calls, texting, and apps. If you need the cheapest possible Android device to meet a specific technical requirement — like developer testing — it gets the job done. But if you're looking for a functional everyday phone, even on a tight budget, I'd strongly recommend saving up a bit more for something with better responsiveness. ... show more

IF you just want to talk and maybe check email or something. I purchased this phone for my 10 yr old kid as a "TESTER" phone. Positive: The phone looks/feel good and sturdy considering the price point, it came in a nice box with charging cable, power brick and a nice protective case for the phone. Negative: I have never had SO many issues trying to set up a phone. I recived it last night (1/17) and began what normally is a few minutes of set up. All seemed to be going ok until the phone shut down and restarted itself about 75% into the setup, and gave me the image(s) in this post. I assume it was user error so decided to do it all-over again; 4 more time, later, at approximately the same completion percentage, it did the same thing - I tried one final time and finally it worked! Let the phone rest over night and today, when setting up some apps for my kid, the phone froze in the middle of logging into Spotify, it restarted and gave me the same erro message I received 4 time yesterday. Maybe we go a Lemon, but regardless I will be returning it first thing to morning. Again, it appears to be a pretty good phone (if it works) but I also have to realize and taken into consideration what I paid for it. Please be cautious, and if you purchase this phone, I hope it works as intended for you. -Mike ... show more
