It's super flattering and you can wear the neckline as a turtleneck or unbuttoned like on the model. Personally, I will probably wear it unbuttoned so it doesn't make me feel like I am choking or that it is too chunky. The color is a beautiful deep burgundy. I'm not sure why the description says solid red but just know that if you're searching for burgundy, it's a true burgundy. I'm 5' 6" and about 165 lbs and the dress comes to just above my knees. I bought a large for a looser fit but could have ordered a medium. I plan on wearing taupe below-the-knee slouchy wedge boots with the dress. It's very thick and warm so definitely could wear in the winter time with leggings. I irder3d a medium as Amazon recommended for me, which also matched the measurements provided by the seller. I'm 5'8 and fluctuate 125-135 lbs. My legs and torso are long and I've always struggled to find sweater dresses that are long enough and that indont have to constantly tug down from just under my backside. This dress is long enough and I don't have to tug on it! The sleeves are long enough for my long arms and the fabric is form fitting enough to flatter my shape without being uncomfortable or looking stretched. The fabric is soft and just as thick as it appears in the pictures. It's great for fall and I think it will be good for winter too with fleece-lined leggings and a coat. The color in real life is EXACTLY as the advertised image, which is awesome. I can only speak for the bright blue color since I haven't yet received the other colors I'd ordered. I rarely write a review but this garment is so fabulous I just had to comment. I am 5'9" 155lbs and ordered the large. It fits perfectly. The knit is fat and chunky and has a nice stretch to it. It hits me about 2" above the knee which is so fashionable. With the collar turned down and unbuttoned it is right on point. Looks fabulous with ankle boots. You would expect to pay three times as much in a department store. I am telling you do not pass up this dress you will love it. I kept the large because while it was still shape hugging (my husband liked that) it didn't accentuate the bumps and bulges.
