I purchased this for a small office (former bedroom) in my home. The previous standard ceiling fan gave up the ghost. The structure in the ceiling wasn't really sufficient for the weight of a standard ceiling fan anyway and it always wobbled. The fan looks good, a bit modern for my older house, but is fine in a room designated as an office. The good: - The fan gives off good air movement. - About as quiet as a good quality room fan. - The light is adjustable in tone and brightness so you'll likely find a setting you prefer with relative ease. - Very lightweight. Easily supported by 4 drywall anchors with no fear of coming loose. The bad: - I have installed dozens of ceiling fans and light fixtures over the last 30+ years. Almost all have a way to support the weight of the fixture while you wire it up. This does not. Either get a buddy to stand there with their arms above their head for far too long while they scream at you to hurry or do what I did and use a loop (I used a long wire tie loosely connected into a large loop) to hang over one of the attachment "arms" (see picture) and hook the fixture onto the other end. Let it hang while you wire it up. - The space inside the fixture is barely enough room for wire nuts. In fact, I had to unstick the control module inside the fixture, move it to one side and bend the romex wires to the opposite side. If I left the fixture centered there was no way I could push the fan high enough to hook onto the hangers. The wire nuts (and these were small wire nuts) were too thick between the ceiling and the control module to fit. Very frustrating to figure this out unless you are used to having you arms above your head for extended periods of time. All these reviews with "easy install" and "could not have been easier" simply didn't use wire nuts. Don't be like them. Don't burn your house down. Use wire nuts. - With a pretty standard ceiling height, about 7 1/2 feet, the area that you feel air movement under the fan is relatively small as opposed to a standard ceiling fan. For my purposes, no problem, as the desk is nearly in the center of the room. Will also work well in a bedroom where the bed is under the fan. However, in a larger room where the light/fan will not be centered over the bed you may not feel much benefit from the fan. - There is no way to reverse the fan direction. Some have answered indicating that's what the wind deflector is for, but this simply is not the case. The wind deflector changes where the wind points (very slightly at best) however a ceiling fan can typically reverse because in the winter you may use it to draw air up thereby circulating hot air (which tends to rise) down. This fan will not be good for this purpose as it cannot do anything except blow air down. For my purposes it will do the job quite nicely but I wouldn't be installing one of these in anything but an office space. ... show more

Light and fan product were ok until on both units that The light started flickering and now will not reach full brightness. Super frustrating as there is no way to replace the light. UPDATE: Seller reached out to me to try to make the issue right. They have no stock to provide replacement units, but have fully refunded the cost of both of my units. Not sure I can recommend this product, but I can say I appreciate the seller in ensuring customer satisfaction. ... show more

    • Doesn't operate like a normal ceiling fan

The mounting bracket is fairly simple, but a bit different from typical fan mounts. It's completely flat to enable the flush mount against the ceiling, however it doesn't leave much space to push the wiring through. I was able to line up the mounting bracket against a normal ceiling fan box well and secure it, however I had to use my own screws as the ones supplied were too small for the holes in my fan box. Once the mounting bracket is in place and the wiring is addressed, you can insert the screws in all 4 corners of the mounting bracket and set the fan in place (by lifting it up and then rotating it into the final position). This proved difficult as the sheet metal deflected some and I ended up getting 2 screws in place and then pushing up on the fan and manually inserting the last 2 screws (2 person job). The wiring was less than satisfactory as the entire unit operates on only a hot and neutral. This means you cannot separate the fan power to a different switch from the light. Therefore the fan can only be turned on by the remote, and only when power is supplied to the light. If you wanted to turn on the fan in the middle of the night and the light switch is in the off position you would first have to turn on the light (which turns on the light no matter what you do), turn off the light via the remote, and then turn on the fan via the remote. This is not a good configuration if it's going to go in a bedroom. Also, it's common that even cheap fans supply a temporary hanging hook on the mounting bracket to suspend the fan while the electrician wires it up. This was not a feature so wiring was a 2 person job. The fan operates as advertised, the light is fairly bright and the air flow is decent directly under the fan. It's sufficient to circulate a small room although you do not feel the air movement everywhere in the room. The remote is a little twitchy as the IR sensor is simply fixed to the top of the fan with zip ties. If you are directly under the fan and using the remote you basically have to get lucky to get the fan to pick up the input. Otherwise you have to step out from underneath and position the remote within line of sight of the IR sensor (which may mean you are holding the remote up in the air). Overall the product is a 2/5 against what I expect to get for a $100 fan. It did what it was advertised it would do, I simply expected more for the money. ... show more

As soon as you opened the box you could see it had been installed somewhere. On closer inspection found the two remote module pinout connectors had wiring crossed up. Red, White, Black wires was not aligned. Spend time correcting issue. The unit has a clear plastic fan blade inside the lighting fixture and even at low speed is noisy. Bad marketing ploy to sell the unit, would not buy another one, will buy the old style ceiling fan next time. ... show more

I recently purchased a small fan for my space and it has been working great. Although it doesn't have the same power as a regular ceiling fan, it still circulates air evenly, especially when there's an AC vent in the area. At first, I was concerned that the fan only blew air directly underneath it, but as time passed, I began to feel its effects more and more.
