    • First time user of a jigsaw and find that this works well and efficiently

Jigsaw works well and efficiently with one blade supplied. So far have used it to cut wood dowels and quarter-inch plexi sheets with good result. Important to let it work gently, meaning not to force or push strongly forward. For more even cut, I find it helps greatly to put clamps on material to cut. When separating handle from jigsaw unit even after short use, I find the inner connectors very hot - so to prevent another accidental touch of hot metal to skin, I put strip of masking tape near edge to indicate "hot" and another tape to help me quickly join together top part of handle with tool. I have become fond of this 20 volt modular unit and started acquiring different tools, including hedge trimmer, weed trimmer, circular saw, drill head, and now jigsaw. I find different tools use up battery at different speeds, with drill slowest before battery needs recharge, and trimmers fastest energy consumers. Even so I have no complaint as can easily recharge battery overnight or power it sufficiently in about four hours to finish a task. Jigsaw has become a favorite to use. Although I wish maker supplied a few extra blades for different materials, including metal, I found packs of them at local superstore (about seven dollars for set of five blades); note to get blade style with T mount to fit this attachment. I got this for my 20v Matrix Drill and it is super easy to use. The saw comes with a small teethed blade and a keyless locking mechanism, you can also use any small regular jigsaw blade with this (if you need to jigsaw in other materials). The drill does a great job and the blade and is super fast and makes a nice guided cut when using it. The drill does feel awkward holding this compared to a regular jigsaw, but for small quick tasks this is a great choice. The metal guide plate is easy to follow and heavy duty so you can quickly make a perfect cut, the engine is strong enough to get through most things with no problem and as long as you have a nice flat surface the jigsaw cuts into the material perfectly. I am very happy with this and using the Matrix system is much easier than maintaining a shed full of clunky tools, I just have the one drill and the attachments for when I need them. ... show more

I was seriously disappointed with the trim saw attachment for the matrix. It was horribly underpowered for cutting 0.75" thick wood and the blade would stop in the middle of a job. Anyway, This jigsaw replaces the trimsaw for me. It is much more precise, easy to re-start in the middle of a cut, and is the easiest blade change I've ever seen. PROs: - Simple blade change - Powerful (20v) - Cuts wood and metal - Accepts all T-shank blades (most common) and also U-shank blades - one of the least expensive attachments!!! CONs: Included blade is not the best and only one kind is included, but blades are cheap. TIP: I bought a few bosch wood blades for this saw. It makes it cut twice as fast and clean. I'm no carpenter but just got an ~$11 blade kit and the tool rocks twice as much! ... show more

Style: Jig Saw Head
I was a bit skeptical about a jig saw that fit on a drill handle but this thing works well. The no-tool blade attachment is very intuitive and easy to access and use. It fits standard blades (so far I've only tried Bosch T-Shank blades but I believe you can also use U-Shank blades) and it comes packaged with a fine tooth blade, which works though the metal is a bit thin. The saw attachment feels solid and so far, it performs well. The only complaint is that it vibrates a good bit until the cut gets underway. Its easy to snap on and off the handle and has plenty of power (I have the 20v) though I've only cut some decorative trim and some relatively thin wood. The weight of the jig saw attachment and the battery on the base balances the tool so it is easy to use and control. It won't replace a standard jig saw if you plan on using it for extended periods of time or for professional use but its great to have for around the house especially since it's cordless. ... show more

I never realized a common tool can actually be revamped to be extra useful and user-friendly. Yes, this jig saw is now a favorite of mine. I used it to cut straight and circular patterns with soft woods such as ponderosa pines. The compactness works to my advantage as it is easier to maneuver. I also bought a supplemental set of twenty-four blades by B&D and they work great with this jig saw (although this saw can accept a variety of blades from other manufacturers, as well). I have no idea how this would stack up against other jigsaws but it worked perfectly for my small project and was easy to swap out with the drill attachment.
