I installed this on 07/10. Today is 08/09. Incredibly pleased with the results after 1 month of use. The picture says everything. It is a little bulky and not very aesthetically pleasing to look at, but based on the results I'm getting, it's worth it. I'd rather look at this chonk than the bugs and gnats that were flying around my kitchen. It only comes with two sticky paper replacements, which is disappointing. But all in all it has nearly solved the problem of too many bugs in my kitchen. ... show more

    • Best in Budget Class
This is similar to what a lot of restaurants use in their kitchens. You’ve probably seen similar units behind your local grocery store deli counter. It works, but not as well during the day. I have older windows in the house, and after a bit of a rainy spell we kept getting gnats coming in from outside through little air gaps around the windows. A gnat trap by the window worked great and would catch quite a few, but we wanted something “cleaner” looking so opted in this direction. During its first day, it caught maybe 3 gnats vs the yellow sticky paper by the window which caught 12. Granted the sticky paper had the better placement, but I didn’t want to put this light next to the window as advertisement for other bugs to try and come inside…. So it’s further back in the kitchen for now. The first night didn’t give much better results - maybe 3 more gnats. It wasn’t until the second night when I tried turning off ALL of the lights downstairs that this really started to be effective. Woke up to a few Beatles, random fliers, and gnats stuck to the glue trap. I don’t know if they were drawn in through my old leaky windows by the light, or if they were already inside… but it certainly worked better. My guess is the power or wavelength of the bulb may not be quite effective when other lights are on or during the daylight, but it does work well for nighttime control. It was easy to set up and comes with three sticky sheets to get you started. I try not to look at the light out of UV exposure concerns, but I’m not sure if this wavelength is damaging or not. Best advice, mount it high and out of the way, preferably not in sight of an old leaky window, and for best results keep all lights off at night. Otherwise, it DOES nab a few during the day - so it’s effective at pest maintenance - it’s just better in the dark and may not squash a gnat population right away. This is a great product and the only improvement I would like to see, on this and all the other insect catchers like this, would be a timer or sensor so it will turn off during the day when the light doesn’t really attract the insects.

    • A stress reducing item!
Gnats and flies were tormenting me. I was setting out apple cider and dish soap mixtures to try and battle them. Once I installed this product it reduced my infestation by 95% or more!!! No more stressing if I'm gonna swallow any flying insect!!

    • Bulb didn't last 4 weeks
The bug light itself seems to work fine. Caught quite a few gnats and other Critters on the little sticky pad. The problem is that just over 3 weeks into it, the bulb went out and replacement bulbs are not cheap. The vast majority have awful reviews as well, so it might not be the fault of Black & decker. Hopefully the replacement bulbs available here on Amazon last longer than the one that was included. ... show more

This product just sets there and does its job. We hardly ever have any problem flying insect, just change the sticky pad about twice a year. Makes a good night light too.

Absolutely the BEST bug catcher! I have had no issues with anything in my house since this was bought! It even catches ladybugs, moths, etc. It’s also cool because the bugs lay the eggs on the sticky mat, so it prevents any bugs from having any more baby’s in your home!

This bug trap is alot bigger than I imagined. So far it seems to be working well to keep the psety bug situation to a minimum. During the warmer months my doors are always wide open as we eork in the yard or garage. My pup likes to follow us around so we leave all the doors open. Ofcourse with open doors comes some bugs getting in our home. I got this to bug & fly glue trap to see if it would help us to keep all the creepy crawlies at bay and so far I am happy. The hardest part about installing this trap is to find the best place to mount it. It does let off a blue hued glow that could double as a night light. The glue traps are already installed on the unit once is gets to full you just peel it off to reveal a clean one underneath. I saw someone else mention that they use packing tap as a replacement. I havent needed any replacements yet but when I do I will give that a try. ... show more
