The high quality, chemically inert, low free silica and low dusting BLACK BEAUTY abrasives are utilized in a wide range of applications. This includes the removal of surface coatings such as rust, paint, and scale, from a variety of substrates, especially structural steel and concrete. Imitation maybe the sincerest form of flattery, but there is only one original BLACK BEAUTY abrasive. Fine grade black beauty: Utilized for new construction, light paint and rust removal and special maintenance applications requiring reduced profiles. Fine Grit 20/40 Blast Media Use Fine for new construction, light paint and rust removal, and for special maintenance applications requiring reduced profiles. Bridge maintenance, light mill scale, paint and rust, new structural steel.     • Excellent results on corroded and oxidized metal!
This is simply coal slag and very aggressive. Many folks describe it as too aggressive but are likely doing two things wrong: 1.) Using on less tarnished/oxidized steel or aluminum that wouldn't require such a coarse grit and 2.) not reducing air pressure to suit. I often bead blast engine cases with great accumulations of surface oxidation. If you use too fine a grit or even most glass bead, it can take several lifetimes to get the job completed to satisfaction. 'Black Beauty' coal slag removes heavy accumulations and then can be quickly altered to "finished surface mode" by dialing back the supplied air pressure and re-shooting the part. The secondary low pressure process removes the remainder of lighter fouling and leaves a surprisingly fine surface with some experimentation and practice. And it does it a LOT more quickly overall than using a lesser grit media. The use at lower air pressure as you get down to actual metal blasting (not initially removing external dirt and grime) in the final stages also extends the life of the slag by pulverizing it less. As with any glass or sand blasting effort, the parts MUST be fully de-greased and dried of oily residue or the media will clump and do nothing effective. The dust is toxic and accumulates in lungs with prolonged use, so a decent 3M respirator and vacuum evacuation of your blasting cabinet during use is necessary. Great stuff!     • Very efficient, aggressive material
Used this stuff for paint and rust removal on steel. Extremely effective. If you are not working with iron or steel, you will want to consider something like glass beads. To give you some perspective: I can smooth scratches on steel with this. I can smooth out stamped letters. If you use this on aluminum, you need to be very careful. Super aggressive and great for hard steel and rust. I only received 45lbs (in packaging) though. Fortunately that was plenty for my smallish blast cabinet. 5 stars on quality and value. Small ding for 10% less material.

    • Cuts fast with minimal dust.
Are use this in the air blasting gun with a hopper on it and in an 80 pound sand blaster. Don’t know how it does for commercial use but for medium to small jobs it cuts very fast and it is reusable with minimal dust.

We had to buy a sifter there were ALOT of larger rocks that kept clogging up the sprayer. I recommend going to tractor supply and get their sand.. its cheaper. WAY cheaper and you don't waste time siffing and throwing out expensive unless sand rocks
