It’s been great so far. This is a 3 year review on the BKC TK122 12’ 9”. My model does not have the U at the end. Wife bought me this for my Birthday in 2019. First of all, it’s heavy for me lift. (I’m 56 years old) Broke the rear washer off my Expedition trying to load it there by myself. It’s not hard to drag around and pull out of the water. I did find a weird little attachment that sticks with suction cups to the back glass for me to load and unload it. I’m 200lbs, wife is 100lbs. We cruise around in this thing like it’s nothing. It’s never tipped over, never even came close. My two sons that are now 12 and 14 use it for going out into deeper water and swimming. They can get off and on with no problems. The wife and I use it mainly for fishing in the Mountain Fork River in Oklahoma (Beavers Bend State Park) for trout. We have not had it in rapids, but it does well going against the water flow of the river. I did not really like the “Water tight” compartments. I’ve found water in mine every time that we used it. The door clips are always coming loose. I’m sure it would be an easy fix, but I’m lazy. There are mounting studs and n the back for something, no clue because no paperwork came with it. Shipping was kinda funny. Came home from work and it was sitting on the curb right by the road. I would recommend this item, although they have gone up in price $500 in 3 years. The kayak arrived in great shape (there are always little scratches and such because that’s the way it is) and the delivery people were great. I’ve had major delivery issues with other kayaks in the past, so Brooklyn impressed me. I haven’t put it in the water yet, but it looks good for my purposes - hauling my 85-pound dog safely. I’ll update if it’s hard to handle, uncomfortable, or anything, but it looks as good or better than my beloved single Perception sit-on-top as far as design. ... show more

Read the reviews and if you don't have time to babysit the transport, find a different boat. The customer service with BKC is fantastic, they just need to contract with a better carrier. I am currently in Wichita, KS where the boat will be delivered and appears that this city is not within the delivery area of the transport company used by BKC. I drove to KC (twice) in a cluster created by the transport company, but finally took possession of the boat. I've not had it out on the water yet so that review is coming. The delivery service (AM Transportation) is terrible. The driver I finally met was great, but the system stinks. BKC did what they could to make the cluster right but I still lost two days and a lot of travel to wait for a 4 hour delivery window that dispatch could not shrink. I finally talked dispatch out of the route drop sites, jumped the route and the drivers handed off the Kayak without a hitch (at a different location than planned). They would not have made their 4 hour window for my delivery. ... show more

First the good (without actually having had it on the water): Great looking boat. The hull is a slight trimaran shape with several ribs, should be stable. The interior is deeper than most sot’s (about 8”), which is the main reason I bought this one, almost like a sit in. All the features are very angular (Foot braces, gunwales, bulkheads). The gunwales are flat and wide. All fittings, (tie downs, rod holders, tracks) are recessed to prevent snags…nice. Seats are nice, a padded mesh, that should be comfortable and dry easily. The elastic paddle holders are very tight. Probably not the best to stand up in, there is not a lot of flat deck (the center where the dry boxes are is kind of a tunnel). The bad: The two week shipping estimate is probably not realistic. I was contacted two and a half weeks after it was supposed to have shipped saying the color I ordered was not available, obviously it had not shipped when indicated. I missed the chance to use it on a trip to Arizona. It arrived a couple weeks after my return in the new color (Grey Camo…Very Nice). Hatch cover latch broken in transit, I have requested a replacement that is supposed to be on the way. The customer service folks seem to be trying to please. I had such high hopes for this kayak and company but I was severely disappointed. Aside from both hatches arriving completely broken and the packaging looking like it had been through a war zone, the interior bags looked as though they had been used before I received the kayak. The hatches claim of “Watertight” Is highly exaggerated as they did not keep water out. My Bluetooth speaker was destroyed, wallet soaked and the inside of the kayak grew mold in between being on the water and opening the hatches in my garage later in the week. BKC’s customer service was horribly disappointing, considering the amount of money spent on their products. If you decide to purchase one and find yourself wanting to return it, they will expect you to pay for the shipping, which is only possible on an 18 wheeler (not cheep). I suggest you look anywhere but BKC If you’re in the market for a new kayak. The kayak itself is more flimsy than my lifetime kayak that was purchased for $180 from Dicks Sporting Goods. It seems that the kayak will eventually break in critical areas with only regular use. ... show more
