This desk converter is great, but not as a desk converter. It is really, really, really heavy. I mean HEAVY. If left on top of my desk, I could easily see the desk beginning to bow in the the middle. The hydraulic spring on it is most similar to the spring on an iron security door that keeps the door from slamming shut. On this converter, that spring made the table rocket up the first couple of times, and makes it require a good amount of force to close. I am not a tiny person, but I am on the average size of things, so it's not my strength that was at issue. It may lighten the need for so much force to close it after it is broken in a bit, but there is no way around the heaviness. So, instead of putting it on my desk, I use it as a small, portable desk and put it on other things. Extended all the way up when sitting on the floor, it is the height of my couch pillow, so it is neither too short nor too tall. I really wish it had worked out as a desk converter because I sit way too much.

I have my work 28-inch monitor, laptop, sound bar and keyboard all on this and it works out fine with room to spare. It's quality material surface and doesn't feel cheap. It came out of the box ready to use and the lift and lower function is as simple as it can get. The converter does come with USB ports, however, I didn't install them. It's a neat feature to have if you need the extra ports to charge items, though. I highly recommend this as it works as a standing desk conversion and gives me the perfect vantage point at 5-foot-11.

The media could not be loaded. The stability is very sturdy. Adjustable easy to let up and down with a push level. The weight is a lil heavy. It also has a usb port and two plug in outlets. It would have been super cool if it actually let up to about 5ft or more. But overall is really nice.

Originally my biggest concern was what the material the top of the desk was made out of. The "E1 Density plate" appears to be fancy talk for a kind of Particle Board, which in past experience has not served me well when my Ikea furniture was made out of it. While the underside of the lifting mechanism has a metal base, the upper portions of the mechanism screw directly into the E1 plate, rather than a metal support structure that THEN screws onto the E1 plate. Either the E1 plate has been thoroughly tested and they are confident the screws will hold up to the stress of the gas lift mechanism, or they didnt think that design through very well. To their credit though, the E1 plate wasn't what failed, rather, one of the sliding racks appears to have either arrived bent and escaped my initial inspection (unlikely but possible), or bent under the force of operating the gas lift mechanism in the days since. This part is a sliding rack, and I'd guess part of the box that goes around the sliding cam wasn't welded when it should have been, allowing it to bend at the other corner of the box. The sliding cam itself looks like it could now pop loose from this box, especially if this box or the opposite in-tact one manages to bend too. If it does, the desk will collapse along with everything on top of it being dumped off. I also have concerns with the padded feet being lazily stuck on, as if they didnt have any notion of craftsmanship. A couple of them are at off angles I suspect could allow them to get caught and pulled up will transporting the desk. Another padded rectangle was also stuck to the piston, presumably to keep it from scratching on a metal part, and it arrived already partially peeled off the piston. The "USB Port" portion is actually a singly USB charging port and two USA power outlets without a grounding plug, and about a 5-6 foot cable to hopefully reach an outlet by the desk. I was really hoping this was a USB hub, but the pictures and description were not very clear.. They need to be installed in the cut-out, and come with a screwdriver and 3 screws (1 is a spare I think), and then a plastic plate snaps overtop of them to hide the gap. The cut-out is a bit ugly, exposing the wood and some loose flaps of the laminating material I worry could get pulled up and peel off the top of the desk if your not careful. There are no pre-drilled holes, and you might have some trouble lining the outlets up so they screw down in a way the plastic plate can attach properly overtop of them. I didn't want to take the chance of ruining the wood misaligning the outlets, so I just popped the plastic plate onto the outlets and pushed them into the cutout without the screws. Without the outlets installed, the plate fits a bit loose in the slot, but hides some of the exposed wood. The outlets thankfully have sliding covers to keep the dust from falling straight in, the USB cover has to be slid manually over when your done using it, but the power outlets have an automatic spring loaded dust cover. Presuming the rest of the desk survives, it's nice that this part is detachable so you can remove or replace them if they break, or just not install them at all if they are in the way. The gas lift mechanism has more than enough power to do it's job, maybe even too much judging by the bent metal sliding mechanism. I had no trouble with it lifting the desk, making sure I used my hands to slow the upward motion. The desk surface has a little bit of wobble to it, how much of it is the result of the defective part I don't know. Assuming your desk is spacious enough for this to sit on, this is spacious enough to hold two 60% keyboards side by side and have a few inches to spare, and deep enough to sit a laptop or two behind these keyboards. A couple smaller monitors or one larger screen could also fit in this space if your careful enough when lifting to make sure they don't get flung off or pulled down by their cables. Be aware that It adds a couple inches to the height of your desk, so that may affect your typing stance significantly when sitting. I DO kind of like this desk converter, but I barely had the opportunity to use it before a part proved defective in a way that could destroy the property on top, as well as cause injury to people nearby it if completely failed, and that is unacceptable. I can't give it any stars as a result.
