I live in these, they are my in house slippers and outdoor sandals. This is probably my 3 or 4th pair of Birkenstock Sandals over the past 12 years. I still have my last pair and try to wear them when I am walking the dog near the beach, they do get wet and the buckles rust. I am thinking of buying another pair now to keep in a vacation home so I wont have to pack these every time I visit. If you want comfort, support and a good true fit buy a pair of Birks!

So first off I feel like a review without a pic seems so fake and I felt like these Birks deserved to have a review written. I did a fake spot review on these and they did not rate very well at all. I took a chance and ordered them because I had been looking for the taupe color in my size for a long time. These are my third pair of Birks and if they had been my first pair I probably wouldn’t even own the other two. I always thought my Birkenstocks were so comfortable but they seem so stiff and hard now that I’ve worn these. I’m very much a shoe addict and these are amazing. I never want to take them off! I was worried that some pics showed them in a darker color but these are lighter just like I wanted. Also some of the reviews said they didn’t think they were authentic Birkenstocks but I have no reason to believe they’re not and honestly I hate to say it but if they are knock offs then I’d prefer them to actual Birks now. If you’re on the fence I say take a chance on these shoes!

Extremely disappointed in this purchase. Here's why: There is thick plastic stitching protruding from the place where the strap meets the sole. These are like actual medical stitches—hard stiff and stitched individually. With stiff ends that stick out just along the seam. Imagine every time you wear the sandals that you searched out on Amazon that about 20 vicious and unrelenting needles poke into the soft part of your arch. You tell me. Does that sound like Birkenstock's definition of comfort? Do you enjoy blood coming out of your arches? Do you want to be tortured with every single step? Is it possible those reviews I read that said these aren't really Birks and that people were being fooled were right after all? Okay, I thought as I wiped the blood off and wrapped my foot in gauze. I can fix these. So I tried to cover these seams with bandaids and moleskins. No dice--they poke through anyway. I have tried sanding them down with a nail file. Nope. Doesn't work. I'm starting to look for flexible caulk. Seriously. WTF right? Is that what it takes to get a decent pair of sandals? I couldn't find these in my local store, so I bought them here. Dumb. Dumd. Dumb. Now I seriously doubt these are real Birks. I look at them and I am sick. I have been wearing Birkenstocks for decades and I have never had an issue like this. Just awful. Avoid. Really.

I ordered the wrong size - even though I am a 9 1/2 shoe size, the EU 40 was too big. The 39 fits perfectly! I love these sandals. I had the same sandal (but without the soft footbed) for 20 years and finally had to replace them! I love the soft footbed - it really makes a difference and worth the minor price difference.

Birkenstock is so Birkenstock. They are so well made that they don't require a wearing in period. My last pair of Birkenstock was 15 years old and finally bit the dust. While my American sized shoes have gone up two sizes I ordered from Birkenstock the identical shoe and size from 15 yrs. ago and they fit perfectly. Thank you Birkenstock for being one of the few constants in this changing world.

I've worn Birks for almost 40 years, since back when they were considered more 'crunchy' than cool. The Arizona is the quintessential Birkenstock sandal, as unassuming and reliable as Samwise Gamgee or grandma's blueberry scones. Follow the recommendations on the Birkenstock website and you should not have a problem getting the right fit. Also, treating your Birks with love, respect, and a little cork sealer will help them keep you in stride for many years. The outer soles are replaceable, so your Birks can last even longer. Birks are friends, not fashion - but now that all the cool kids want them, counterfeits have become a problem. Read up on how to tell the real deal from the fakes on the official company website. If a deal sounds too good to be real, it probably isn't. You get what you pay for, and authentic Birkenstock Arizona sandals are worth every penny. In 40 years, your feet will thank you.
