Is this hardcore saved my butt, one of the two bolts that connects the manual detent spring cover to the transmission body, during reinstalling, snapped, it was the last screw also. I had to problem solve and try to use a bolt extractor kit, but to no success after hours of trying, so I ended up threading the top of the transmission valve body, and it worked, and was able to change a solenoid

Can be finicky

I used these to repair the fork bolts on my bike (one bolt broke-off, the other had the head completely stripped). After drilling out the old bolts, everything went smoothly until I put the coil into the hole and tried to break-off the tab. Normally you screw-in the new coil, then reverse the tool to snap-off the end of the coil (that would be blocking the bolt), and it should pop relatively easily. The first coil I put in, the end would not snap-off... and it was critical that it did since the bolt would have to pass all the way through the new coil. I had to remove the coil (no easy task) and try again. Luckily the next one worked better, but it was still tougher than the Heli-Coil kits I've used before. They definitely need to notch those ends better. Aside from that, I had zero issues and the new threads are working as intended.

Did the job, complete and nicely packaged too

Purchased to repair a couple damaged threads in an aluminum engine block and it did the job beautifully. Nicely packaged in a metal box and the ample supply of inserts doesn't hurt. Good value for the very reasonable price. No idea how it works on steel or other metals.

I ended up ordering a second kit because I broke the tap in the first kit. I had to tap 4 holes out of 8 in my chases for my plow mount. I used a t handle to make the first hole in the outer side of the chases and when I went to make tap the second hole on the outer side I didn't have enough room to turn the t handle and it was going in crooked and I try a few times to straiten it out but the tap broke in the hole. So I ordered a new set and while I was on amazon I looked for another method of taping the hole and found this set(Ratcheting Tap Socket Set 2pcs with Adjustable Jaws - 3/8" Drive Tap Holder for Tight Spaces, Compatible with Taps, Reamers, Screw Extractors (#6-1/2"),Cr-Mo Steel) and purchased it. This made the job so much easier. The thread repair kit worked very well and now I have a good supply of helicoils.
