I got this thread chaser set as a gift for my husband, & he absolutely loves it! A month or two ago, we were working on a project & he mentioned how much he needed a kit like this, so I decided to surprise him with it. Everything in the set feels sturdy & well-made, & all the pieces fit neatly in the case. This is a very comprehensive thread repair kit that covered both metric and inch thread forms. The kit includes thread chasers both internal (tapped holes and nuts) and external (bolts and threaded rods), thread files, and thread gages. The set covers up to 5/8" and 14mm which covers pretty much every non-industrial usage. The set comes in a nicely made molded case that does not allow pieces to fall loose even when opening it. For the inch sizes both coarse and fine threads are covered. For metric coarse and fine are covered for common sizes but not the oddballs (pretty amazing that this set covers 7mm and 11mm for example.). The tooling itself seems very well made and cleaned up some damaged threads I had no problem. Remember that this kit is for cleaning up existing threads not making new. For that you need a different set of tools. This set it so complete I consider it a "buy once cry once" situation in that once you buy it it will be in the tool box ready to go whenever you need it to keep the work rolling.

This is a thread chaser set that is used to repair damaged, dirty or rusted threads. Thread chasers are designed for repairing and cleaning up threads and are not for creating or tapping new threads. I tested most of these chasers using quality nuts and bolts. Pros: The set is well thought out and includes a good range of common SAE and Metric sizes. The set includes SAE and Metric thread files which are super useful. The case is nice - It organizes the thread chasers well. Each thread chaser is also labeled with thread size. The chasers are cleanly machined. Cons: The two included thread gauges are poor quality, but they do work. Overall: This is a very useful set! Recommended!

Having the right thread chaser on hand turns a show stopper into a minor problem. This kit is awesome because it has most common thread sizes and pitches for both SAE and Metric. The case keeps everything organized so you have it when you need it. You can easily see if you haven't put one of the tools away by glancing at the case which reduces the chance that you accidentally loose one. The taps are heavy and sharp which speaks of quality. I have no doubt that when used with a good cutting oil they will last a long time and be good for multiple passes each. If you work on cars or other machinery where rust is a problem, having this in your tool box is a must.
