This floating shelf it is for multiple purposes. It could be used for a cable boxes or gaming system, which was the intended use. However, when I was redecorating my son’s room, I decided to use it for the TV. It holds it well I am strapping the TV down, so it doesn’t have to lean back up against the wall and so it doesn’t fall but the shelf holds it up well it’s really nice because it has like a bill in cord catcher.     • Great shelf, needs some directions (or just read this review)

We have a DVD player still for watching some favorites we cannot stream. It was sitting on a dog crate under the television while I searched for an appropriate shelf (deep enough for the player and remotes, white, and easy to install). I received this and immediately went to set it up. I chose to put one side into studs so didn't need the anchors for that side but they do include 4 along with 4 long screws and 2 short screws. The first thing to do is drill the 4 corner pilot holes and put in the anchors if using. Then put the shelf together and put the 2 short screws through the back of the wall unit and into the shelf (I didn't do this the first time and then realized and had to take it down to start over). Then hang the shelf using the 4 long screws. It is a very deep shelf so I do recommend using a stud for one side if it is convenient. I feel like this shelf is likely to tilt down if it's just in the wall. ... show more

I used this to mount below my projector for a Roku Box and small speaker amp for the surround sound system and it works perfectly for that use. The cord minder is a great feature to keep the cords neat and tidy. The way it's made, the shelf goes flush to the wall with the mortised back plate, so there's no gap between the wall and the shelf and sits perfectly flush. The quality is good for small electronics, but I would not put anything too heavy on it. This adjustable "floating" shelf is great for game consoles, disc players, and streaming boxes. Don't plan on putting a 50lb AV receiver on it thought. It is constructed of what looks to be plywood instead of particle board with a while laminate finish. Has wire management cutouts to pass cables and includes mounting hardware. I wanted to like this shelf. It's not made of bad materials. The design and concept is what attracted me to this shelving unit. However, the execution of this design is very poor. The shelves themselves are not sturdy or stable. It came with no instructions. I tried inserting the shelves into a slat in the base unit. The shelf fit loosely into the slat. It would not sit level enough to give a straight image for my projector. It, also, was very unstable. I tried screwing two of the provided screws through the back of the base of the unit and into the shelf itself. It split the board of the shelf. Just inserted the shelves into the slats of the unit is not straight nor sturdy enough to support a projected image nor the weight of a gaming system. The product photo provided does not match up to my experience. I wouldn't really recommend this for its intended purpose ... show more

I was very surprised at how sturdy this shelf came. The wood is a bit on the heavier side and is a thick cut. Materials were provided and the flexibility of being able to place this in any room made this worth it. Putting this thing together was not rocket science but it would have been nice if there were some directions... Even if it was just pictures. Once I had to hung I noticed that it's not very sturdy and I highly doubt it will last very long. The shelves don't fit right in the grooves and are not secured by anything except for fitting in with the piece on the wall like a puzzle. Definitely would recommend looking for other options ... show more

This shelf is very simple to install and use. There are pre drilled holes for mounting on the wall, and the shelves slide easily into the mounting bracket. There are different levels for the shelves, so there are a few different configurations you can use. The wood is substantial, not flimsy or cheap. Looks good on our white wall. We use it for the DVR for our camera system, so it's mounted under the monitor. The DVR sits nicely on one shelf, and the remote goes on the other. We like this system for its ease and usefulness.
