  • Update: We have had some customers with residue issues, so I ran some tests to figure out what was going on. Big Tape uses a silicone adhesive that works to create a great seal and keep water ourt. But, if you install it while the car is wet and you seal water in behind the tape - the silicone gets gooey and will leave a residue! So, don't install when the vehicle is wet! And, if you do - like I did for my testing - you can remove the silicone residue with warm, soapy water and a sponge. Make sure you remove the silicone before it dries.

  • Does the job. Recommended
Used this on a 2010 Honda Fit for a driver's side power window that was stuck down. Order arrived an hour before I needed to drive it to my mechanic with rain in the forecast. Took me 15 minutes (including watching the short how-to video mentioned on the package) to stretch three pieces across the window opening. It's applied vertically, in wide strips, starting from the rear and overlapping the edges as you go. This plastic is *tough* and the adhesive is *strong* (no do-overs). Best cut with a very sharp utility knife (but don't scratch the paint). Would have been easier with another pair of hands, but managed well-enough on my own. The short (16 min) drive to the mechanic was uneventful. Visibility through it was acceptable. Above 30 mph there was appreciable wind noise; at 60 mph it was really loud, but probably because I'd let some slack get into the first piece down. But it did the job: kept the wet stuff out, and the warm air in. Recommended. You should get a roll to throw in the back to have just in case. ... show more

  • This saved my car!!!
So, I probably should’ve waited for my husband to get up so he could put this on and make it look nice. But, I am a woman and I am impatient. So I took it upon myself to do it. And I gotta say while it doesn’t look pretty cause of my application job but It is absolutely an amazing product. This has saved my life. I live in Florida. It rains Almost every single day because Florida is bipolar. My window will not go up and my car, shes 20 years old. And I am poor and cannot afford to fix the window right now. So this is a cheap option that works very well. I have to get on the highway to go to work every single day so it got up to speeds of 70 and still held on. Made very little noise which is great because I have the tism and loud noises drive me insane. Let’s see how she holds up in the rain. That will be the real test! ... show more

  • Have a buddy when you install this
Does a great job, really does stay on at 70mph highway speeds, but it's hard to put on correctly without an extra pair of hands. It's like using packing tape...you lose track of the ends, it sticks to itself and can't be "unstuck" to itself, so definitely work with a buddy with this product.

  • Great for temporarily covering broken windows, etc.
This was exactly what I needed to cover my rear window when the power switch broke and the window was stuck “down”. The tape was easy to use temporarily until I could fix the window, and it was also easy to remove! Great value and I still have most of the roll left if it happens again!

  • Durable, Sticks Well, Holds up going 75mph
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to use on my 2009 VW convertible beetle. I was nervous that it would not stick to the soft top fabric but I was pleasantly surprised! I only used one layer and it held up going 60 mph. I highly recommend. It has only been 1 day, so I may need to update my review later on. I used an adhesive fabric tape for extra strength on the soft top part, but I think it would be fine without. I also used one small piece of extra strength gorilla tape on the black part by the mirror, but again, this was probably not necessary. Update 4/3/25: I have had the tape on my window since 3/20/25. I have not had the time or the proper weather to get work on a permanent fix. The one layer held up extremely well (driven numerous times going up to 60mph). Yesterday, I noticed the first leak. One tiny spot was dripping because of the way I overlapped two of the pieces. I attempted to put more layers on in the rain, which was a disaster. They do not stick very well when wet. I also believe the adhesive fabric I used was necessary to keep the plastic stuck to the soft convertible top. I have noticed an issue with a white coloring forming between some of the layers. Possibly due to rain. This makes it very hard to see out of the window, and may be dangerous to drive if left like that. Overall, I highly recommend this product, and will likely be buying more if for nothing else than to have handy in case I need it. Update 6/5/25: It has rained every single weekend since I dismantled my car door/window. I have been relying on this tape for about 2 months now. I am now buying another roll (after taking my current layer off to work on the door). If you put it on with as few wrinkles as possible, and keep it as tight as possible, it will not only keep the rain/bugs out, but it won’t be very loud either. It holds up going up to 75mph from my experience. All you need is one layer. The roll has had enough to cover my window 2-3 times. If you are using it with a soft top like I am, I highly recommend getting some fabric tape to secure it. ... show more

  • Works great!
I normally don't write reviews, but I was so happy with product that I had to do one! I had the back window on my SUV broken out in a freak accident, and ordered this to cover it up. I was able to apply it without a second pair of hands, in maybe 15 minutes. I did apply some painter's tape around the edges, just to be extra careful. Had to be on the highway several times in the two weeks I had to wait for window replacement, and it held beautifully! I did discover that at high speeds it would kind of move in and out slightly and make a very muffled "thup" sound, but found that if I slightly cracked two windows, it was as steady as real glass and no more sounds. (Maybe equalized the pressure inside and outside the suv?) Could see out the back window very well, not to the point of reading a license plate, but could definitely see everything behind me. When I went to get the window replaced, it peeled off easily and left no residue. Was so happy with the product that I ordered two more rolls to put in the trunk of both my vehicles, to have in case of emergencies. ... show more

  • Worth buying!!!! Great product.
It came thru in a clutch. I loved it. Held up in the rain and we were able to see the side mirror. It's like a clear tape and it's great.
