abunda_amazon_reviews So I have had my Big Green machine for over 3 years now and here are the good and the bad The Good: It does a fantastic job at cleaning carpets. I have 3 kids, a dog, and a cat at home and they spill everything on my carpets. Dog has had multiple accidents but everything comes out with this thing. Just make sure to vacuum with regular vacuum before hand. Machine isn't really designed to pick up objects just pull dirt and stains out. The Bad: The hose attachments does only a so so job on upholstery and tends to leave stuff very wet. This may seem odd but if something won't come out or is too wet I pick the whole machine up and place it on furniture, only use on flat parts can't put on angle. If you don't put handle down brush won't engage and will suck everything out much better than hose attachment. It will also be much dryer. Hose attachment had some kind of ball bearing in it. Mine has a tendency to fall out, this bearing pushes in the flow indicator when plugged into vacuum so water is diverted to hose instead of regular floor. If you lose this bearing because it falls out (which I did) You can no longer use the hose as water will no longer dispense from hose. Don't use hot water. The flow indicator is made like crap and the hot water will dissolve the glue that holds the 2 half's together and you will spring a leak at the top of the vacuum and no water will come out where it should anymore. Contact pins for connector that goes to circuit board motor break. When this happens the brush roller won't spin anymore. I currently have 2 broken pins and can't find a part number or replacement for the pins. i have contacted Bissell and hope they can help me get some new pins. (I will probably end up straight soldering and sleeving wires to circuit board to repair) Conclusion: I consider myself very handy so I troubleshoot and repair all my own appliances, cars, house etc. This machine although cleans carpets very well has many defects and manufacturing problems. I would avoid this machine and spend your $400 someplace else. Tips if you already own or get anyways: 1) Don't use hot water (will damage flow indicator) 2) If carpet has no stains or spill is still wet don't use floor roller (keep handle up) I saw a picture from another reviewer of how impressed she was with all the stuff she pulled out the carpet. The stuff in the picture is mostly the carpet fibers themselves. The roller should be saved for deep stain cleaning as all rollers damage the carpet by pulling out fibers. 3) After cleaning carpets with soap empty and rinse holding tank and fill with clean water nothing else and run over carpet again. Left over soap act like glue and holds dirt so making sure all soap is out with a quick no soap after clean. Your carpets will stay much cleaner for longer this way.;;Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2019;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;Great Cleaner but Terrible Manufacturing;;ROBERT;;;Great machine until your flow indicator springs a leak, and I guarantee it will. Well, this has been one of the worst purchases I've ever made. I didn't want to spend this much, and even got it at its lowest price, but thought paying the premium price would be worth it. The first time I used the machine I was so excited to remove the stains that my Hoover wasn't able to remove. Except it didn't. In fact, it didn't seem to remove the stains any better than a cheap Hoover at all. Needless to say, I was shocked. A month later, I'm using it again, and my carpets just look ridiculous dirty after several cycles of washing and rinsing. Now I notice that my carpets are dirtier than before. How? The thing is leaking dirty water everywhere. In blotches, in straight lines, the unit seems to be leaking dirty water from everywhere. The worst part is the unit has a hard time even cleaning the dirty water it is leaving behind. So now, I'm basically ruining every area of carpet that I'm cleaning. I clean one area, and the unit leaks dirty water all around. I try to clean those area and not only does it not clean those spots, it creates more dirty spots by more leaking. It's a vicious cycle and I don't even want to try to clean anymore.;;Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2017;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;Worst purchase I ever made.;;Thomas Liu;;;Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made. I had a Hoover Steam Surge product and it did pretty well and lasted probably 4 moves and about 5 years so I thought. My old hoover stopped working so we purchased a new one on black Friday. Big Mistake. I used the new one for part of one room before it stopped working and I thought the Hoovers were supposed to be better than the Bissell's. So I took it back and did a little research and talked with my wife about it and we decided to spend a little more than we wanted on a carpet cleaner and bought the Bissell Big Green. Boy was I amazed at how bad the old and new hoover really were. This thing smoked the hell out of the Hoover Consumer carpet cleaners by a landslide. And we thought we vacuumed enough with our 2 dogs, This thing picked up so much dog hair it was nuts. The only Con of this thing, and to be honest isn't a con if it is pulling it up, but it will leave little hair balls here and there depending on how much dog hair is in the carpets. Most of it will be in the dirty water, but you will find quite a bit on the rollers, and occasionally little hair balls. But they are super easy to pickup and clean off the rollers and from inside of the cleaner. If you need a carpet cleaner and are willing to spend a little more than the consumer units at your local electronics store, then I would say pick this thing up right now.;;Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2017;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made;;Arnaud A.;;;I don't usually write reviews but I just had to this time especially because I bought this unit because of all the great reviews.
