I worked in a curtain factory for 6 years in my younger years and I remember a little bit about curtains. These curtains are of an incredible material. They are very heavy and silky. We purchased them because every neighbor around us has a floodlight that shines into our windows on every side of our house. And although we do not do that, it is better to find a solution to the problem without starting discontent with our neighbors. These black out all of the floodlights along with a streetlight that shines into our bedroom. Problem solved with peace in the neighborhood! I can only guess they have these in Alaska where the sun is up well into the nighttime hours.

These curtains certainly do the job when it comes to blocking out daylight! They are sturdy, the black lining is very heavy, and it darkens the room. They are easy to hang, easy to open and close by sliding on a rod, and they hang beautifully. My only complaint is that from the outside of the house you can see a glaring white stripe down the middle of the window from the white fabric that's on the inside of the curtain wrapping around the black. It just doesn't look nice from the outside of the house.

Last spring we moved into a renovated older home, and now that we are in our first winter, I noticed that while the house is very comfortable, it is very cold by the windows, especially since our couch is against one of them in the living room. As we are renters, there is only so much we can do about the older windows, and the natural draft of an old home. A coworker told me about a similar problem they had and linked me to these thermal curtains. Since we hit single digits and even negative numbers in our area recently, I ordered a set to at least put in our living room for now. With just one day, they immediately made a huge difference! It feels much warmer in our living room than it has. I usually give products a little longer to decide if I wish to keep them or not, but, if I am honest, after a few hours, I couldn't deny how well they were already working. I took them down and washed and dried them (medium setting on the dryer), and there isn't a wrinkle on them. There wasn't much wrinkling when I took them out of the packaging, but enough to be noticeable. I am sold on them, and plan on getting a few for our other windows in the house as well. They are a little on the heavy side due to the lining, so I would suggest that if you plan on getting them, that your curtain rods are well secured. Not that I had an issue myself, but it was an observation I noticed.
