This is ALMOST the perfect golf bag tool. The business end is sharp and perfectly shaped to clean the grooves of the golf club. Turn it 90 degrees and it will clean the face of the club amazingly well. This tool is all metal. No plastic to break. It feels like it should stay sharp. Why not a 5 stars? Where do you put the cap when you are using it? You need both hands to clean the club, it would make sense to do what pen companies do and make it fit at the end of the tool. ... show more

I opened the box and found no directions for the tool. Not a huge deal as I found plenty of videos on Youtube, but would be nice to at least have a basic understanding of the best way to start. Once I had watched multiple videos, I got to work on an old Clevland SW I had in my bag. Pretty beat up and tons of dings and scratches. First thing you want to do is put some masking tape on the toe and hosel of the club. When you are sharpening, the tool can slip and scratch your club. Really doesn't matter if your club looks like mine. Place the edge of the tool at a 45 degree angle in the first groove and "draw" backwards with light pressure. You can continue with light pressure until you feel the tool start to bite into the groove. Continue sharpening until the desired depth and reprofiling is achieved. As I worked my way thorough the grooves, I could feel some spots that were a bit bummpy or where the tool was hanging up. I found the best way to take care of these spots was to do a back and forth motion, almost like a filing motion. Again, start with light pressure until the tool bites into the groove then you can go a little harder. I've had these wedges for years, and I could definitely see and feel the difference once I sharpened them. I am not a great golfer, but the spin is much better than I ever had, even when the clubs were new. I might have cut into the grooves too deep, but I'm not looking to play in ang PGA sanctioned events any time soon. I gave the second tool that came in the package to a golfing buddy as a present.
