The media could not be loaded. This is my second RC car from this vendor and they are both awesome. The other car was about ½ the price, so I was interested to see what the extra $40 got me. The short answer is (even) higher quality and higher speed. Packaging: Arrived in perfect condition All of the plastic surfaces come with a protective plastic coating that can be removed. This means it arrives in great shape. It also came with a nice storage/travel bag for the battery which was the first bonus I didn’t know was coming. Batteries: You get 2 batteries which will give you a solid 40 minutes of playing with it (less if you are running it full speed constantly). The batteries take ~2-3hr to charge each. It came with 2 charging cables. This was a big second bonus! This allows you to charge both of the batteries up at the same time (e.g. overnight). You also get a special offer when you register for the warranty to get even more batteries. The batteries came charged which was also nice so when we opened the car it was straight into the fun rather than having to wait 3 hours to charge. The charging cables like the rest of the car feel very robust and have not one small indicator, but 3 giant LEDs that are red when charging and green when charged…Easy! Control: The car's controls are easy to master and my 5, 8, and 11 years old all love playing with this car. You can adjust the steering from the hand controller (e.g. if it wants to go to the left or right when you are trying to make it go straight, you can adjust it). The controller is a good size and weight. The car came with batteries for the controller too. My neighbor said ‘we had RC cars growing up, but nothing like that!’ This thing is fast and zippy! Durability: The car feels solid. Having used the car for ~6hr drive time we have sent it flying over ramps and crashed it into a few mailboxes and it has not been damaged in any way. Both the front and back of the car have been designed to withstand substantial impact. It also has some pretty hefty suspension that allows it to be driven over rough terrain without issue. The car comes with a manual showing you all of the parts and in the event it broke, you can get replacement parts. (it even came with a few extra screws and chassis pins in case anything shakes loose over time). A few things you might want to think about… This is a fast car! I think the age range of 8+ is justified. My 5 year old likes the car, but would probably do better with a slower model. My 8-year-old had no trouble with it. It is designed for going over solid ground (like blacktop/dirt). If you only have grass to use it on, you will want a model with greater clearance between the ground and the body. Like other ‘hobby grade’ car, the on/off switch is under the chassis of the vehicle (helps protect the electronics from water). You need to remove a couple of pins to get to it. Not a problem, but does make it a little more involved to turn it on and go. The production of this car is great with some very nice unexpected extras – sometimes you see pictures before buying and then the actual product does not live up to expectations. Bought this for my son for Christmas. It is great until it breaks. Amazon replaced the 1st car due to little plastic piece that holds the hood in place broke within couple of use. Thought it was just a mishap but appears that the main structure of the car is not durable. After 2 and half months, the shock proof plank that holds the shock spring and spoiler broke. Contacted bezgar and was informed that parts are unavailable and will assist me in purchasing a 2nd hand car to use it as replacement parts. Not sure how that is going to work. I bought the car during lightening deal and don’t want to spend more than what I paid for the original car. Will update the review if this gets resolved but for now skip this model and go with cars that you can actually get replacement parts or something that is durable. The car is not priced for 3 month life span. Based on my experience the other reviews regarding durability and how it breaks easily is very true. Update on review- changed my rating to 4 stars since bezgar is sending me a second hand vehicle free of charge. They seem to really care about customer satisfaction and quick to respond. We got this for our son for Christmas, and he loves it. It's a great step up from "toy grade" RC cars. For some background, over the past few years our son has quickly moved through a succession of "toy grade" RC vehicles that usually last less than a month. This is either due to the batteries slowly loosing charge capacity, quickly falling to pieces, or generally just being junk. As a result, we decided to spend a bit more and take the step up to "hobbyist grade" with the Bezgar 8 desert truck. We couldn't be happier. No complaints so far. Some specifics: - Great speed and handling. It reacts quickly to input from the controller and gains speed quickly. - The car can survive standard tumbles without trouble. Sometimes my son jumps the curb with it in our neighborhood and it flips a couple times before landing. Half the time it lands on the tires and keeps going. When it lands on it's back, he flips it over and keeps playing. This would have put any of his previous "toy grade" cars out for the count. So far, the only "damage" has been the cover to one of the decorative headlamps on the roof came off. We clipped it back on and it has remained in place since. - The car comes with a complete list of parts, so I'm confident that any future damage could be easily repaired, and parts easily obtained. This is another big step up from "toy grade", where the usual solution to breakage or batteries going bad was throwing the whole thing in the trash. - The battery life averages 15-20 min of intermittent speeding (so far) until the car starts slowing (we try not to drain the batteries completely). - Kudos for coming with 2x batteries and charge cables. My son moves on to other pursuits after both batteries are used, so I haven't had need to time the recharge - I just know they're ready to go the next day. - Communication with Bezgar for the purpose of registration was easy and response was quick and friendly. If you're tired of wasting money on cheap "toy grade" RC cars, take the step up to the Bezgar 8 desert truck. You won't be disappointed! ... show more
