The media could not be loaded. I just received the “BetterSax Classic” Tenor Saxophone, and I couldn’t be more impressed. This saxophone is exceptionally durable, plays effortlessly in tune, and comes truly ready to go straight out of the case. As a professional musician in New Jersey, I needed an instrument that could handle the demands of high-energy performances—think swinging around a packed wedding dance floor, the occasional bump or fall—without sacrificing sound quality or reliability. The tone is rich and versatile, making it an excellent choice for everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the build; the keywork feels fluid and precise, offering full mechanical freedom across the entire range of the horn. It simply plays the way you want a great saxophone to play. Kudos to Jay and the entire BetterSax team for delivering such a thoughtfully designed instrument! Received my better sex tenor in great condition. Except when I tried going up & down the scale. Low G shuddered. I discovered a leak in the necks octave vent. Tried experimenting using one of my spare tenor neck. Plays good no defect! I think the neck is bend. But the rest of the instrument is in great tune. Sweet water was suppose to inspect thoroughly. Really?? I just need the neck replace. Its a great saxophone. I love the respond. I can finally play the lows. Upper Keys is perfect pitch!! Love the Better Sax Tenor. A wonderful tenor saxophone. When I saw Mr. Metcalf demonstrate it and vouch for its quality and design - I decided to buy it. It is as good as Mr. Metcalf claims - I am only a hobbyist - intermediate player but I have found the Bettersax classic tenor to have the best ergonomics I have experienced on a tenor. I have played mainly student models and have had issues with the palm keys but this instrument seems like it was made for me, no problems at all.     • Good value, this is a high quality entry level horn.
Not a bad horn. Tone is relatively good and intonation is pretty consistent. I did not care for the key layout on the upper left hand and the palm keys. I had some trouble getting to the B key and bis key, just different from my main horn. It also seems to have a problem with saliva not collecting at the bottom of the horn. I would have a wet left hand after about twenty minutes of playing. Not an issue with primary horn, so something is different with the design. Palm key notes were a little thin compared to my primary horn. I play a P. Mauriat 66R as my primary horn and I was hoping this would be a great choice for a second sax. ... show more

Not for me. I have played saxophone for over 65 years and have played many student through professional models. I bought this after seeing the video reviews online. The one I received was damaged (see below) so my impressions are only visual and tactile. The dark “cognac” finished actually looked brown with a slightly green tinge. It reminds me of the antique finish door knobs of my house. The key touches are white plastic. While some may like the under-slung octave mechanism on the neck, it did not appeal to me visually. I think my students would prefer a more traditional looking instrument. The key touches are generally placed well except for the left hand B area. The front F and Bis key were too close to the B key for me. I was difficult for me to find a finger position where I was not hitting one of those adjacent keys by mistake. I checked the photo provided by Amazon and it shows how close these two keys are. Overall I felt it was overpriced. Shipping damage: The sax arrived in a Better Sax box that was shipped in a large Amazon box. The Better Sax box was banged up quite a bit and had a 14 inch tear in the side that was taped up. When I opened the box the corks that usually are used to secure the keys during shipping were not in place but rather in a small plastic bag inside the case. I play tested the instrument with my mouthpiece and found all the notes were stuffy especially the right hand notes indicating something was leaking. I suspected the instrument was damaged during shipping and arranged a return with Amazon. After about 10 days I received a refund from Amazon. Advice: If you are purchasing any saxophone online, have it played tested immediately when it arrives by someone knowledgeable to determine that it is playable. ... show more

Received the sax the other day and it is a good value. Key design and response is excellent had to do a small adjustment on the octave mechanism and it works fine intonation is right on. All in all a great instrument for the price.
