Installed this top yesterday. Took around an hour due to the two screws (left & right sides) not reaching the well nut at the top of the supplied door rails. The left side would finally begin to catch the threads in the rail but would not go all the way into the hole without stopping. After much cursing and sweating and stripping out the allen head portion of the screw because it would jam at the top of the hole, I suspected that the threads were not machined properly so I used the correct size metric tap and screwed it through the hole. Just as I suspected, when it got very close to the top of the welded in nut, there was some steel in the threads that was not cut away when the mfg. tapped it. After clearing the obstruction with the tap, it went right in and tightened down like it should. As I said above, both screws were difficult to install but I had previously read (before purchasing this top) that this was a common problem. The right side was not obstructed and also finally threaded caught the threads and snugged up. (BTW: I had watched five different videos re. how to install the top before ordering it and also watched the video from Besttop re. tips for installation of this specific top but those two pesky screws are probably going to give the majority of people a problem when they attempt to install them. There's a lot of space before the screw threads can begin to reach the threads. I used to do all of the maintenance and repairs on my motorcycles for 45 years so I had metric screws on hand as well as a metric tap & die set so I didn't have to run around to hardware stores to find another metric screw or take it to someone with a metric tap & die set. Other than this problem, the rest of the installation is very straightforward. This is a first-class product that works well and looks fantastic on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Besttop really does need to address this screw problem because (IMO), it shouldn't be this difficult to get a simple screw into a hole; especially by someone who has worked with tools & machinery for many, many years. I recommend the product highly to anyone who doesn't like to remove & reinstall the Freedom Top panels every time they want some fresh air in their face. The top works flawlessly (once it's properly installed and tightened down). p.s.: Forgot to say that after completing the installation, I ran some serious water all over the top for over five minutes with ZERO leaks. The media could not be loaded. This took me a bit longer than 40 mins to install. I was able to install myself. I actually watched an install video on you tube by Bestop. Made install easier. Please follow instructions exactly. I decided to jump steps and therefore prolonged the install. The instructions also call for cutting into bar padding, however, I had removed my faded sport bar padding a couple years ago and have been running bare bars for awhile so lining up the screw holes was easy for me. Once complete, I am absolutely satisfied with this item. This definitely makes opening your Jeep top convenient. This top is like a convertible, you just unhook and pull top back. Within seconds you go from top to topless. I even did this at a red stoplight. I was also able to open the sunshade and shoot the video at the same time. Easy peasy. I had a shadeidea mesh shade installed and this would have worked in conjunction to that however, it would have been in the way of operating this sunshade effectively. The material is high quality. It doesnt appear to make much noise while driving closed, as far as rain getting in, I haven't had this for a rainfall just yet. Keep in mind, upon being a new item, the first few times of closing shade will be a little tight. But the more I'm using it, the easier it gets. The sun needs to help stretch the material. Definitely worth the price. The good thing is, you can remove this easily to re-install freedom panels if you get bored. I ordered the Black Diamond version because of all the off-roading I do.. I heard the Twill is harder to keep clean. Thank you Bestop for coming out with this fun Jeep accessory. I ordered the retractable mesh shade that goes with this sunrider and have left a review with video.. go check it out. ... show more

A little pricey...yes. Worth every damn penny....also YES! Complete game changer for us hardtop folks. Just makes the jeep more useable, fun, convenient and it looks great to! The product is solid made (get the twill) from durable materials that look and feel factory. Install is idiot proof and took me all of 30 minutes the first time and then 15 when I had to remove it to fine tune the fitment...my fault the first time. Wind noise is a "bit" more than the freedom panels but you'll get no sympathy from the soft top crew. Honestly the noise pales in comparison to my 35" MTs so it really wasnt enough to even matter in the long run. Also doesn't leak a drop so far. I could not be more happy with this purchase even with the higher price point. If you're reading this then your thinking about it ... Just buy the damn thing and enjoy! ... show more

This is the BEST investment I’ve made for my hardtop Jeep! The free dome panels aren’t hard to install/uninstall, but living in an area with spontaneous rain I never felt like I could take the tops off and leave them off. Enter the Sunrider top. Now I can flip it open or closed with ease! I can enjoy the open air experience without having to worry about weather. I was able to install without removing my Alien Sunshade. PROS: Easy to open/close Super high quality material Leak-proof (I’ve been through an automatic car wash!) Doesn’t increase the temperature of the vehicle Installs without having to remove hard top or Sunshade CONS: Road noise is drastically increased, especially on the highway. Install wasn’t hard, but we had to adjust the screws several times before we were able to actually latch it closed. Because we had to adjust the hardware several times during install, this isn’t something that we’ll want to remove during colder months and put back on during warmer months.
