The desk arrived damaged as you can see in the picture. It was not damaged during shipping because there was only a portion of the missing piece in the box. If it was damaged in shipping, all of the broken piece would be in the box. The pieces were packed with thin Styrofoam. The Styrofoam at the end of the box that was opposite the damaged end was pretty much pulverized and it was everywhere. Styrofoam is subject to static cling so cleaning it off the other pieces, me and the carpet took a long time. I contacted the company asking for a replacement piece. The response was courteous and they offered me a small monetary compensation as an alternative to replacing the part. Unfortunately it was the desktop that was damaged so replacement was the only viable option. Hearing that they indicated the part was backordered and offered me a slightly higher compensation. I again explained the damage would be very visible and asked how long it would take to get the piece. They responded it would be 3 months and there was no guarantee the new part wouldn't be damaged in transit. Fortunately Amazon provides easy returns so I just ordered a replacement desk and just swapped the bad desktop with one in the new package and sent back the new package. It was unfortunate that I had to go through that much trouble. Even though the return was free I still had to go through the hassle of packaging it up and returning it to Amazon. The replacement desk came with no damage incidentally. The desk itself is just OK. Fit and finish is average. There were a couple of corners that required touch up with a felt pen. Fortunately the desk has a distressed look so they blend in somewhat. The panels are assembled using pins and camlocks which don't necessarily hold tight. When the desk was assembled there was a lot of flex in many of the pieces so you have to be very careful when moving it. Assembly isn't terribly difficult but it is time consuming. Expect to spend a few hours on it. Sometimes the instructions aren't as clear as the could be and I ended up installing one of the pieces wrong. I didn't discover it until it was time to install the cabinet door which is close to the end. I had to undo quite a bit to get to the point where I could turn the panel 180 degrees to correct it. Given the quality issues and the inability to get replacement pieces I can't recommend this desk. ... show more

The desk is very pretty. The assembly was not difficult, but printed instructions and pictures were so small you could barely see them. Overall the desk looks good, but is cheaply made, not very sturdy and definitely overpriced. Even being very careful during assembly, some of the finish came off in places. It was a gift for my daughter who is a teacher. It will be interesting to see if the desk survives a school year. ... show more

I really like the desk... opted out of the $125 option for someone to put it together for me though! I kid you not, it took me 7hrs to put it together! The directions are good, not as clearly written as I'd like, but in the end I got it! And it looks great! I'll be ordering the matching straight line desk too. Already have the printer stand. I suggest an open day, a lot of patience, and your favorite drink! Then enjoy your beautiful, sturdy, desk! ... show more

Pros: -Good looking Cons: -Cheap quality -very hard and time consuming to put together -the big gold X metal piece came in wrong color, black instead of gold( i wish at least all came in back not some of those in gold and one in black). -super easily to chip and dent -connection between two top/counter pieces with hardwares are made cheaply and once assembled It will always squeeze even if you put your hand on it with no pressure! ... show more

I purchased this desk because the size fits my home office, but I regret this purchase. The desk looks ok, but the materials are disappointing at this price point. The color of this desk is much darker than online. I would have chosen the gray had I known that the color of the Brown Rustic desk does not match when it arrives at all to the picture online. The online picture is a nice light color. The desk that I received is at least 3 shades darker and does not match any of my furniture. Love the Desk hate the color. My husband already put it together when I arrived home. I wish there was a way to exchange for the gray color. ... show more
