Big Game is an industry standard for a reason. The main complaint you will see about it is memory and line twist. Keep in mind that every time your spool makes a rotation when paying off line through your drag (when you are playing a fish), it puts a twist in the line. I recommend buying some PVA mesh. Depending on your rod and line test, put a rock, or a few, in a piece of PVA mesh, tie it up and tie the little package on the end of your line and cast it into the lake as far as you can. Let the PVA dissolve and reel your line back in, pinching the line between thumb and index finger in front of the reel. This will remove line twist. Secondly, memory can be managed by using line condition such as Reel Magic, as per the instructions on the can. When taking care of your line like this, combined with the strength of Big Game, there is no better, stronger and more reliable alternative, especially for the money. ... show more

i found that if you keep your fishing poles in the sunlight this line does have some memory but it is minimal compared to some other brands. i replace my line after every year and with that time i have zero issues with this fishing line.

I've been using Berkeley Trilene for 40+ years. Excellent knot strength, excellent abrasion resistance ( specially on the big game XT ). Berkley Trilene is the only monofilament fishing line I will buy!!

I've used Berkley Big Game over half of my life and you can't go wrong! If you asked 10 anglers the best Mono fishing line, 9/10 would probably say the same. The 10th one just hadn't tried it yet. But seriously it is the first line I would recommend anyone, especially beginning but seasoned vets use it everyday as well. 4-6lb for panfish to 10-12-15 for bass and 20-25 etc for catfish and saltwater. Several colors to choose from, I also like the lighter green for ponds and the neon green for crappie/catfish..... ... show more
