Purchased this for my grandson's 2nd birthday. His Dad put it together and said it was relatively easy to assemble. This is a quality product, well built and should provide plenty of years of kid enjoyment. I just wanted to get him a nice pedal car, I remember I had a chain driven pedal car when I was a kid that I rode all of the time on the sidewalk. My grandson is a big kid, but is just able to reach the peddles. So, he hasn't been able to drive it around yet. we did have fun pushing him around while he steered! We figure 6 more months and he will be racing around. What I liked about it is you can pedal, coast without the pedals moving (like on a regular bike), reverse the pedals to stop and keep pedaling in reverse to go backwards. I put together 3 different models, and this is by far the easiest of them to assemble. Took about 30minutes compared to 2-3 hours in some of the others. My 4 year old daughter loves it and is riding it very well. Will get many years of use out of this model. Frame is built incredibly well and super impressed with everything. People complaining about it being 1 wheel drive don't understand engineering, and it's like that for a reason. You can't turn with 2 wheel drive unless you have a differential like on a car :). Just look at the review with the guy who said he modified his and then found out it can't steer (in the photo reviews). Berg Toys Junior Buddy - White This is the second Berg Junior Buddy we have purchased as a gift for a child within our family. My husband continues to be impressed with the quality and performance of this pedal go cart; he has assembled both vehicles after their delivery which occurred three years apart. He believes the engineering and performance of this toy's features are consistent with a safe breaking system, unobstructed visibility for the child driver, and accurate and responsive steering. The Berg Junior Buddy unexpectedly attracts considerable public attention when first seen in motion. We didn't anticipate how fast, smoothly and quietly, this toy vehicle can be propelled by pedal power alone. It never fails, both children and adults approach and inquire: Is it motorized? Is it custom made? How fast can it go? Can I try it? Where do you get one? Grown men are especially interested in the engineering. The children in our family wear safety helmets. My husband also mounts a Berg Safety Flag unit behind the driver's seat.. however, he is not satisfied with either the color (for optimum visibility) or the weight (wind sock flutter) .of the actual Berg Flag so he purchases a replacement flag. On her birthday, our 3 year old grand niece seated herself in the "pink car" and within minutes announced, "I drive just like Mommy." They have a large, flat driveway where we chalked a racing oval (with short cuts) on the surface for her to practice "revving her engine, braking on command and driving within her lane." This is a very sturdy & well made go-kart! We are very impressed!!! The assembly was very easy & the tools needed were actually included! Shipping was super fast also! We purchased this for our grandson for his 8th birthday & he absolutely loves it!!! He is 49” tall & still has plenty of room for growth as it is adjustable. He has already requested some of the accessories for his new go-kart! His 2-year-old brother was impressed also. He kept saying, “WOW!” & couldn’t wait to try it out! I know it's not a cheap toy for a toddler, but it's really worth it. The mechanism for them to pedal forward and backward is incredible; the car is on the heavy side BUT they just need a little push (even by themselves) and once they gain inertia, the pedaling is easier. My daughter really ENJOYS going out in her car; it took her two rides to learn the mechanics of the pedal. It's super sturdy and super easy to assemble (although you need some space to do it). The design of the steering wheel and suspension is smart and allows them to do turns wherever they want and to go into bumps without hesitation. I'll be a BERG customer for life! ... show more

The cart looks great! No cheap plastic fru-fru. The transmission is awesome and works like a charm, the frame is well designed and made and quite stout while being easy enough to be taken down for moving the cart in your car to the park or storing it, and the inflatable tires are spot on even if the plastic wheels are not the best. My only real gripes are that only one rear wheel is driven and effected by the brake. The way this is made, it would have been easy to have a single rear axle linking both rear wheels so both would be driven and braked taking this car into the realm of greatness. My other gripe is that the seat (which is adequate if not particularly good) does not adjust far enough forward for my 4 year old (who it was bought for) to be able to reach the pedals well enough to power it (another inch and a half and it would work). The boy is not pleased with Santa this year. His 10 year old sister has driven it all over the neighborhood and loves it though, even if she looks funny with her knees sticking out to the side because it is too little for her. ... show more
