We have the " Tropical" Flamingo print lunch bag and the back pack. Its been perfect to have both since our toddler is not allowed to bring a back pack to preschool they really just wanted these flimsy reusable grocery sacks for space at school. However she can bring her lunch bag which is insulated , washable, toddler durable ( No rips or tears and easy to clean ). I love that it has a zipper pouch inside where you can put ice packs to keep things cold. In Arizona summers this is a must so food does not spoil. We use the Bentgo ice packs because they are slender , hard on the outside and washable to make them easy to clean the germs off of and reuse. We put one in the zipper pouch and one under the lunchbox. We also had my mother in law embroider her name on both her Bentgo Lunch box and the Matching Backpack so it was easier to identify in a school of toddlers who may have the same print. ( By the way we never put her last name so that its not easily identified for strangers or predators to know her name or information just a tip we heard and have used it). I love the handle variety that its interchangeable and that it has a pouch on the side for her drink cup to bring to school. I honestly overlook the zipper pocket on the back all the time but remembered it was there tonight and now i'll be placing the second ice pack into that zipper pocket for the bottom of her lunch box. We love the affordability of them as you get 4 for under $13. I bought this to store the Bentgo lunch container, Bentgo icepacks and snacks. Plenty of space inside for other brands of lunch containers, thermoses, and ice packs. I use 2 of the Bentgo "puppy" ice packs under her lunch container, and when I unpack her food at 4pm, her leftover food is still slightly cool. This tells me that her lunch is safely cold to eat by her lunch time. My only complaint is it can get heavy (especially with a water bottle, ice packs, and full lunch), so it's a lot for a 5 year old to carry. Otherwise it seems durable and will definitely last the school year. It's adorable and matches her entire set, and gets lots of compliments! ... show more

DURABLE My daughter used this lunch bag every day the entire last school year. The only signs of wear that show are dirt, but the bag washes well and easily so it’s a non-issue. PRACTICAL It is very roomy. I can fit a lunch box and a thermos jar within, along with a flat ice pack. If one chooses, the outside bottle holder is a practical option. I also like that it opens the same way as a bentgo bento box, so there is no confusion about which side is up and no lunches end up upside down. FUN I’m so pleased with how well this bag has held up, and my daughter hasn’t grown weary of the design, which says a lot about how fun it is for her to look at! Next year, because she is a little bigger now, I may start having her use the shoulder strap in order to reduce the bulk in her backpack. (It is a large lunch bag so check the dimensions of how it will be used to assess if it’s right for you.) SERVICE Finally, bentgo customer service is extremely responsive. (We lost an accessory.) I am writing this review after a year of use by my kindergartner & am very impressed. It held up incredibly well & looks like new after a quick scrub with warm soapy water. We paired it with the bentgo chill for holding her food & loved that as well! Perhaps even better than the quality of the product is the customer service however; I emailed the company regarding a small tear that had occurred in the mesh bottle holder & they are replacing the lunchbox since it is still under warranty. The response time was also incredibly quick. I would 100% recommend this product & have done so with other moms I know. This is quality in both the product itself & the customer service. My kiddo loves his new colorful dinosaur lunch box! He is happy to carry it to school each day. It is not very easy to clean once dirty. I had the same brand for school the last 2 school years. I had to purchase a new one because the other one was pretty dirty after my toddler used it. I wiped it down daily but the dirt does not go away. This lunch bag worked for an entire year for my 1st grader. It got a little dingy (as one would expect), but cleans up fairly well. Over time, the insulation lining started cracking, and the mesh/netting for the drink holder also started falling apart (or maybe it got hooked on something and ripped — who knows — kids are crazy). Regardless, customer service handled this issue quickly. When I was looking at purchasing a new bag, I was reminded that this product had a 2 year warranty, so I called Bentgo customer service, had them look up my order, and they’re shipping a replacement. This has been a great lunchbox so far. I ordered it with the bentgo ice packs and boxes and it keeps food cold for the kids until lunchtime! So far we love it. I love how it has a strap so they can carry it on their shoulder as well.
