  • Great Device for the Price
I did no much research on projectors it was insane. I do love the fact that I was able to make my own attachment from a 12"x12" piece of wood and some machiene screws (i cant remember the size) but then flipped it upside down and mounted it on the ceiling. It does take a hot minute to turn on (pun intended due to the bulb heating up) but for what the cost is, i love it. It is now the main point of focus in the man cave. I do have a few cons, but still for the price i cant complain... there is some light that escapes out the sides of the unit so the room if blacked out, will become fairly bright. The noise of the fan, when i pause the Movie or TV show does become apparent but goes away once you have your audio back on. The screen will pick out ANY and i mean ANY imperfections in the wall. I have looked at getting a screen but when they cost more than this projector, i just shake my head and keep dreaming. the color correction does work great, i have a slight yellow hue in the wall paint, and once you set the color correction, boom its like its on a white wall. One last thing, darks are really dark, i noticed sometimes i have to put the brightness up because the TV show is so dark. I guess thats just me having opinions, but its a great little device! would totally recommend! ... show more

  • HDMI nightmare - look to other brands
Unfortunately, this projector suffers from a couple of huge HDMI problems. 1 - The HDMI socket is either loose or designed poorly. This seems to be a BENQ thing as you can read on multiple forums about people skinning down their HDMI cables (the boot where the plug goes in) to maybe hopefully fit in the socket so that the picture doesn't flicker away. So if I need to cut at my HDMI cables in the hope that it will hold a picture consistently... I would get a picture, a butterfly would land 3 blocks away and the picture would go down. 2 - The HDMI handshake is awful - AT BEST - My previous projector took a dive (thanks Optoma, <2 years old) and I wanted to switch brands to not reward lousy manufacturing. Well, I learned my lesson. The Optoma would perform the HDMI handshake flawlessly within seconds. This BENQ? No desire whatsoever to talk with my Yamaha receiver (<2 years old, nothing ancient). My cabling is all 1.4a, and it all worked without a single hiccup before. With the BENQ, I had to put an HDMI device that strips out HDCP in between my receiver and the projector to even get it to see it. Switch inputs? Yeah that'll cost you at least 30 seconds of handshaking and hoping it will actually handshake. Folks, I have 3 BENQ monitors for my PC, and they are absolutely fine, but the projector? Awful - you HAVE to get HDMI right. Every time, BENQ. Otherwise, there's no point if I have no signal source, right? Sorry, but I have to rate this as a horrible product and pretty much have to bail on BENQ permanently for projectors. As I mentioned above, there are a ton of forums with people having problems with the BENQ and HDMI. Whether they source the components poorly, or they have a different team of people for HDMI than their monitors, I'll never know. ... show more

I bought The BenQ TH670 as an upgrade on my one-year old ms524, which is now mounted for my guests with the TH670 in the master bedroom. Although I grappled between the W1070 model and the TH670 I finally settled on the TH670 as the newer and more cost effective of the two models and must say I am extremely satisfied with the TH670, throw ratio, color contrast and resolution are great especially considering I’m throwing the image directly onto a white wall. The unit is silent and rather pleasant to look at however only draw back I find is that it doesn’t exactly stand up to ambient lighting as well as I hoped none the less it’s a great purchase and does a great job for gaming and home theatre alike. ... show more

  • Great Projector
There isn’t anything bad I can really say about this projector. It died after three years of regular use but I know I punished it pretty hard during that time. It got moved houses twice and I took it on trips with me. In fact I was living at 3k ft elevation without using the high altitude mode for most of that time. So I believe the ballast eventually failed and the bulb popped (very loud). I enjoyed this projector immensely during its lifetime. Did have to send it back for a image flickering issue that I guess is common for this model but BenQ fixed this problem. Sometimes I would get some image flicker but most of the time the performance was stellar. Love watching sports on this thing. The brand it high quality. I think this will be my go to brand for the time being. BenQ makes great products and has good customer service. ... show more

  • Multiple issues within the first 6 months
It's a really great projector...when it works. I've had this about 6 months, and watch movies, TV, and play video games on it, and it all worked great at first. I have it projecting at a size of about 100" diagonal, and hanging from the ceiling. BUT, after about 4 months of use on the default normal brightness setting, the lamp started to flicker ever-so-slightly. Putting it on a higher brightness setting made it go away, but the colors on that setting were not as good. And on this higher setting, it would eventually overheat and turn off. So I'm constantly having to monkey with the picture settings to make it work for any length of time. On top of that, now (only 6 months into the life of the projector) it will sometimes turn off as soon as I turn it on, blinking an error light. After a few attempts, it stays on, but it definitely shouldn't be having this many problems in its first year of life. I'm going to contact BenQ customer service and see if I just got a lemon. But first impressions are not good. ... show more

  • Great starter 1080p projector.
So far so good. Its got a pretty good picture although if your are zoomed in fully, you can see the pixels. The screen lightly flickers sometimes but im not sure if thats from the eco mode being on or from a quality issue. Other than that it is a solid projector. I run mine from 9 am till 10 pm at night and it runs pretty smooth. It is extremely quiet for being a projector. ... show more
