  • Benjamin Pump is PERFECT for Benjamin Airbow!
Bought the Benjamin pump to match a Benjamin Airbow and everything worked out perfect! Forget all the nonsense reviews you've read, here IS the real truth behind the Benjamin pump! First, it NEVER got hot while pumping my Airbow up from 1,000 psi to 3,000 psi. Even after 25 pumps the entire unit was cool to the touch, so to get this thing "hot" is gonna take someone just "a pumpin' and a sweatin'" nonstop! Another fact worth mentioning for those who don't already own PCP guns....it's the FIRST thousand psi that wears you out! My Benjamin Airbow came with 1,000 psi on the gauge. With the pump connected, the FIRST 1,000 psi is simply pressurizing the line between the pump and the Airbow! That took about 100+ strokes! You see, until you have created enough "line pressure" to overcome the internal valving, your strokes don't mean diddly squat toward increasing the gun's reservoir pressure! As most can figure out, once volume is satisfied, pressure comes up pretty quickly...and this is true of the Benjamin pump. Once line pressure was equal to gun reservoir pressure, "psi" started to come up pretty quick. From 2,000 psi to 3,000 psi wasn't about number of strokes, but about getting the pump all the way down to inject the next slug of air! By 3,000 psi it is extremely difficult to get the pump all the way down unless one is a large person with good body mechanics....so there is that. At the same time, when shooting, if the gun reservoir is recharged around the 2K psi mark, it won't take long at all to be back to 3,000 psi! The Benjamin pump is clearly well made and made to hold up to a lot of use. And, point of fact, pumping up the Airbow was excellent exercise! I highly recommend this pump for those looking, but not expertly familiar with all the pumps on the market! ... show more

  • HIGH PRESSURE PUMP WORKS GOOD
hi purchased this pump instead of an electric compressor to pump up my PCP and paintball high pressure air tanks. i'll tell you i'm a little disappointed. i waited over 3 weeks to receive this and when i did it was broken. the gauge was smashed. well i just bought a new paintball gun and i had to test it regardless. i used this to pump up my 68 cubic inch tank rated at 4500 psi to 300 psi. it took me over an hour to do so, in between waiting for the pump shaft to cool down and wearing myself out!!!im a small guy, 150 pounds and it worked ok... the other reviews are correct... the toughest part is getting past the first 1500 pounds of pressure.... it took me 1000 down strokes to get my 68 cui tank up to 3000 psi....it was over an hour to do it... i still think a scuba tank and hpa adpater is a better way to go than this pump. i got a good work-out doing the 1000 strokes, but, i'm a lazy old man... i'm going toi look into a REAL compressor instead. but this pump works like it should and does what it says it does.. it's just a work-out doing it... good luck ... show more

  • Replaced a Chinese pump with this.
I ordered a Chinese made hand pump trying to save a few bucks. Let me tell you, it wasn't worth the hassle. The Chinese product from Mrodair may have come with two rebuild kits (consisting of O-ring sets) and a bottle of lube (that was punctured and leaked all over the entire shipment), but it didn't come with instructions and didn't work right out of the box. I'm in the process of trying to return it but the company doesn't even return emails. I bought this Benjamin pump as a replacement and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it not only came with instructions, but that the only assembly required was 4 screws (two for the floor plate, two for the handle) and only a Philips head screwdriver was needed. It went together in under a minute and was connected to my Benjamin Marauder right after. It worked perfectly, felt sturdy and well built, and was comfortable to use. Don't get me wrong, it takes some effort once you get the psi up there, but it's a great alternative to a scuba tank if you don't want that added expense or for fill ups in the field. My only gripe would be that I wish the filling hose was longer and more flexible to make it more user friendly and easier to pack into a backpack for field use without worrying that you are putting a kink into it. Shipping on this was crazy fast! I ordered it late on a Friday evening and it was on my front step when I got home from work Monday night. It was packaged well and arrived without issue. All in all, I would recommend this pump. I tried to go a cheaper route and ended up regretting it. As the saying goes, buy quality the first time and only cry once. ... show more

  • 3.5 stars if I cound
I've only had this pump for around 2 weeks so I can't comment on reliability in the long run, I'll edit this review if I change my opinion. NOTE: If you just want to pump an airgun to around 2000 PSI (eg the Benjamin Maximus), then buy it. 2000 PSI is easy to reach, even if you're not that heavy. If you're trying to get to 3000PSI and are lightweight (>145 Lbs), then this pump is not for you. I would say that a body weight of 140Lbs is borderline for getting to 3000PSI. I'm using this pump for my Benjamin Marauder, while pumping an airgun is doable, it is tiring. I haven't kept track of how long I need to pump to get my airgun from 1000PSI to 3000PSI, but I estimate it's anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour (excluding a break to let the pump cool down) First impressions aren't too great, the baseplate is not completely flat, and has rough edges on one side. The tube is VERY short at only around 9 inches of bendable tubing, meaning you're going have to put your gun on the ground next to the pump or replace the tube (tube is 1/8" NPT I believe). The grip has a rough line across the middle from the injection molding process. The silver inner tube has random scratches on it. On the plus side though, this is the cheapest brand name pump, at more than 50$ less (67$ when I bought mine) than the next name brand pumps (the Air Venturi G6 and the AirForce pump), and it does pump my Marauder to 3000PSI. If you want to add some desiccant, the intake is 1/8" NPT. ... show more
