  • really impressed with this
I was looking for clamps for dog holes. There are several brands that look the same. These were a couple dollars more than the others. However, I'm impressed with the band. These came well packaged and with instructions. You really don't need instructions for clamps but I thought it was good. There are also spare pads for when the original ones wear out. I am going to order this again so I have 4 clamps. Since I'm buying more, I would recommend these. ... show more

  • Works well
Good quality dog bench clamp. Use with my Worx Pegasus table. Easy to use and clamps well. Can easily clamp 1-1/2” thick boards.

  • Seem to be sturdy
The shaft of these has some texture on it so in the hole in the work bench it really has a strong bite. The screw down part has sufficient length so you’ve got flexibility and how it’s used.

  • Hold downs
Good quality doing job well. While shaft has good grip, it could be longer. Happy with purchase.

  • Textured upright may eventually enlarge workbench hole.
These BGASNW Bench Dog Clamps seem to be well-made, and are easy to set up. There are a couple of issues, however... While I was testing to see how firmly they will grip, the foot fell off of one, and I heard something hit the floor. That “something” was the VERY short machine screw that holds the foot on (see photo). It was easy enough to reassemble, but will need to be checked often and tightened when necessary. The screw is small enough that it could be easily lost. The clamps come with 4 replacement pads for the feet. The Amazon product page says (in the written description) that the pads are silicone. In the photos on that page, the pad is labeled rubber. I tested the clamps on my ancient (30+ years) B&D Workmate bench. The workbench holes are 1/16” larger than 3/4”, so the clamps fit a little loosely. That may not be a problem, but I am concerned that the very rough-textured rod may eventually enlarge the hole, then my Workmate bench pegs won’t fit snugly any more. I have used only a few bench dogs/clamps over the years, but all the ones I’ve encountered were smooth rods of metal or wood, which I think I prefer. The clamp rods are less than 4” tall, will hold materials less than 2-3/4” thick. The round knobs are relatively easy to turn. I had a little trouble screwing the clamp down tight, but that’s my arthritic hands, not the knobs. These bench dog clamps are made in CHINA. Regarding the packaging: The packaging reeked. Literally. When I opened the box they were shipped in, I was hit with the strong smell of cigarette smoke. I don’t see how the metal dogs could hold an odor, so am assuming that the plastic bags they came in or the smaller cardboard box they were packed in (or both) were the culprits. My living room smelled for 2 days, even after burning a candle. Unless you like the smell of stale cigarette smoke, I advise that you open the package outdoors. ... show more

  • Works Great with my ¾” Bora Worktable
The design of these Bench Dog Clamps from BGASNW is similar to several others in the $20-$30 price range. The basic idea is that the cylindrical body of the clamp is only slightly smaller than the hole and by giving the clamp a slight “Cant” (tilt in the hole), it will bind against the inside wall of the hole to anchor itself. The patterned surface of the cylindrical body helps to further increase grip in the hole. Manufacturing quality for these clamps is good, with straight edges and no burrs. Their aluminum construction makes them very lightweight and sturdy. The cylindrical body section is ¾” diameter (19.05mm) which is the most common size used in the U.S.; I found that these fit the holes in my Bora Centipede (#CK22T) worktable quite well. If you are new to bench dog hardware, you should keep in mind that clamps like these will certainly “fit” into larger holes – for example, they will easily insert into 20mm “metric” holes, such as those found on Festool’s multifunction tables; however, that additional 1mm in diameter requires the cylindrical body be tilted too far to one side, reducing the gripping force on the hole. I should also mention that Bora manufactures a metric version of their worktable (#CK22TM) which uses these larger 20mm holes – so you may want to measure if you are unsure which version of table you have. I also tested these clamps in one of my old Workmate folding workbenches. Those holes are still larger than 20mm, leaving a lot of gap. As you can see in the photo, this is a prime example of what NOT to do. The tilt must be rather extreme to get the clamp to grip at all and it slips fairly easily. Bottom line: As long as you are using these BGASNW Clamps in true ¾” holes they should work well for you. ... show more
