Description

This tool makes humans as close to foolproof as we can get, at least when it comes to measuring, cutting and installing trim without a flaw. We love that it’s a solid piece, with nothing adjustable on it, so you know its 45- and 90-degree angles are always true. It takes the gymnastics out of measuring, too, whether screwed to your workbench or temporarily tacked to the working wall with 6d finish nails, because of the built-in tape measure hooks. Even tricky inside-to-inside miters are a snap. Perfect 3/16-inch reveals on windows and door jambs are guaranteed every time: Just line it up and draw your guide with the pencil holes. Though it’s marketed for casements, we’d keep it in the toolbox for all kinds of jobs. Imagine installing baseboard up to door trim and lining up the Trim Loc for a perfect cutline every time. We think it’d be the perfect gauge for squaring saw blades, too. This little tool will save you time, money and lots of frustration.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste From the Manufacturer Trim-Loc is made to measure, mark, and install casement trim. Built-in tape measure hook slots let you quickly and accurately measure jamb openings. It's also perfect for measuring your trim stock. Just fasten Trim- Loc to your bench, hook the tape measure, and lay out perfect miters every time! Use Trim-Loc's precision 45-degree and 90-degree guides to quickly mark the cut lines. It's also a handy square and setup tool. When you're ready to install the trim, Trim-Loc will hold the stock in perfect alignment while you nail it in place so you get consistent 3/16- reveals every time! Do you work on a crew or have a lot of trim to hang? If so, think about buying two Trim- Locs, one for your tool belt, and one for mounting to the bench.

  • Trim-Loc "Money well spent"
I purchased a Trim-Loc from a local home improvement store and instantly realized that this was money well spent. My Father -in -law and I were remodeling my family-room and it has 4 doorways in it. That meant casement on both sides of the doorways. After spending an inordinate amount of time on the first one, I ran out and bought a Trim-Loc at the recommendation of a salesperson at (Lowes). After the obligatory learning curve, we found that the Trim-Loc made measuring, cutting and placement of the casement trim extremely fast and easy. Mis-cuts were non-existent and when working with high dollar Oak millwork, mistakes can be expensive. The tool worked so well that my Father-in-law wanted one of his own as well as my brother-in-law who is a contractor. I bought two. They were each about $6.00 cheaper than at your local home improvement store I also want to mention that I purchased Bench Dog's Crown-Cut crown molding jig. If you have ever cut crown molding on a miter saw you know that its orientation is paramount. The Crown Cut has simple instructions that again make mistakes almost foolproof. It is pricey but again money well spent. PS. "And they are made in the USA. ... show more

  • Made things go much quicker!
I should admit that I only used this to align the trim in the corners and as a gauge along the trim. I didn't use it for measuring. I measured the interior opening and added 3/8 like someone else mentioned. Doing that produced almost perfect results, as long as the windows are close to square. This made getting the pieces into the right position easier, and it made trimming a window or door much quicker. Well worth it. ... show more

  • Handy tool
It does just what it is designed for - assists in laying out measurements for molding and trim. It is fairly easy to use, once you get the hang of it. The directions are somewhat vague, so it took a bit of practice to determine the best way to mark the cut lines on molding. Otherwise a real handy product that easily fits in your tool belt. ... show more

  • A superb tool
When I was young and just starting out in the construction industry in AUS.I would have given my right thingy to have this tool.AS I progressed in my skills I gradually could eyeball necessary spacing quite well, so I would probably do without. As I now progress into my senior years and have found the magic TRIM-LOC Casement tool, I now WOW those "smart" young apprentices with my SPOT ON fit-outs (if they only knew about this tool) & now I'll give (if necessary) my left thingy to keep this fine tool quiet! ... show more

  • Great design, great execution, doesn't work for my workflow.
I don't use this tool to its full potential. I only use it as an easy tool to mark 3/16th reveals so I can align my preassembled casing easily. It's absolutely great for that, though! Super accurate, matches my incra 1/64ths marking jig. Great unintentional feature is there's a small bow in the plastic, which means you're able to use it like a spring when you need to hold it tight for marking. ... show more

  • not like it used to be
this is the second one of these that i have owned because someone stole my first one, my old one was powdered coated aluminum, this new one is cheaper plastic, it works fine but i don't know for how long, i have had it now for about 3 weeks and it already shows signs of wear, i belive i might need to get a new one sooner rather than later, still a great tool just cheaper quality. So far i have not found a replacement that is aluminum. They just don't make em like they used to ... show more

  • A seriously handy trim tool
Well, I've trimmed put a window and some door casements. Nicely designed and built. The one I bought has the 3\16th reveal. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
