I ride All-Mountain to Enduro in the pacific northwes; some fairly fast and steep moto trails. We've been wearing basic helmets such as Fox and Giro and my wife has a POC but they are all just top shells for Trail riding. Well after my wife caught a pedal on a fairly steep rooty section and did a flying header face first into a large cut off stump, hiked out 2 miles in shock and went to the ER to have the hole in her face patched up... I decided it was time to replace my 5+ year old standard helmet. Here's what I like about this Bell Super Air: - It is very comfortable, looks and feels well designed - Light weight - easy to install chin bar - Good visibility with the chin bar installed - Great ventilation - Sweat seems to channel away from my eyeballs, and I can work up a good stream when riding - Does not feel like it is riding on my brow-line like the TLD I had for a short period and ditched -I love the adjustable visor, it is very functional and easy to use (no screws, just detents) Con's: The thumb adjuster for tightness is a bit small and hard to reach. I highly recommend this helmet.

I've been ridding with this helmet for a couple months now and really like it. Its lightweight and has good ventilation. I don't notice it at all while riding which is very important to me. I am a relatively new mountain biker and I bought this helmet because I wanted a helmet that could progress with me. I like the option of being able to have the chin bar when things start to get really technical or I start to jump more but also have the option of an open face for regular trail days. Its not downhill helmet and I don't intent to use it for that as I'm not a dh rider (yet) but its a great helmet for those who want a little extra protection with out all the heft of a full dh helmet. I've only had one issue so far and that was with sizing. I already own a Bell road biking helmet in size large which fits great and has a size range of 58-62cm. Bells website list the same range for the super air r Large so that's initially what I ordered. When I tried it on I could not tighten it enough. Maybe it was a faulty tighten mechanism but I returned it for a medium and it fits much better tho its close to being to snug (not enough to bother me). I also had an issue with the seller. They removed the helmet from its original packaging and shipped it in a box the was to small. It was bulging at the sides and had no protection. It left the helmet very susceptible to damage. Luckily it appeared to be ok but I think that is extremely poor business practice as it calls in to question the authenticity and condition of the product. So while I do recommend the helmet I do not recommend the seller Gotta Ride Bikes.

Ok- this helmet rocks. been wearing it for several months now and I can say it works well, it comfortable and is now my favorite, go-to helmet, even without the chin bar on. I have another brand's full face helmet that a friend had given me that is DH certified and is a really nice helmet, but at the end of the day at the bike park, I would have a sore neck from the extra weight. What? Do more heavy metal head banging reps? Sure, one could do that, but I decided to go this route and I'm very happy. I normally ride a lot of local trail with the occasional 3' high x 8' gap, but I've been venturing more into the bike park stuff (6' high 12' table tops) in the last year so I wanted something lighter for getting out to the bandit trail features. I also rarely crash head first into anything (I got the tuck/roll thing down) so I figured this would fit the bill for the royal screw ups, even without the full DH certifications. Last thing - it had been a while since I owned a Bell helmet and the helmet forehead pad had some sweat guides to channel the sweat away from the eyes- it was a great feature. I was disappointed to see that this helmet doesn't have anything like that. What this forehead pad does is slowly fills with sweat until max saturation and then dumps drops perfectly on the my riding glasses. This happens on hot, high 80's days way more often than the cooler days, but is still an annoyance. It is on par with all of my other current helmets, so I'm not dinging it any stars. I just wish it was like my older Bell. Also - This seller's "red' helmet looks more like a burnt orange than the actual red that I got. I had a suspension that this was going to be the case (see Bell's website for the true color) but was half hoping for the orange color- nope! BRIGHT red. It still looks cool and I needed the quick delivery, so I'm still good.

After reading a lot of third-party reviews I was afraid this would not provide adequate protection. You have to understand this is not a heavy duty downhill helmet and if you are looking for the most protection available then avoid this helmet. With that said I was pleasantly surprised that it is sturdier than I thought it would be and provides more protection than anticipated. It is extremely lightweight and ventilated well. Easy to wear in the heat of the summer. Very comfortable and highly recommended. A tad expensive but I'm not aware of an alternative that provides the features of this helmet.

As I was loading up the bikes, the delivery guy handed me this package. I was too lazy to take it inside so I threw it in the car. My son noticed the package when we got to the trail. He wanted to open it. It was this full face helmet. Perfect for my son to try it on this new trail because he would of worn his old half helmet. Long story short, he took a nasty fall where he went down face first. My heart stopped as I saw his face bounce off the ground and slide face down about 10 feet. This helmet saved him. Not a scratch on his face, but he dislocated his shoulder. He’s perfectly fine now. My son is part of a main cast on a television show and this helmet saved his face. This could of been so bad! Thank you Bell for making a product that really did its job! BTW, the helmet is super light, really comfortable and my 12 year old son loves it.

Arrived late, the box was dinged up, but the helmet still had the tags on it. Looks like the pics. It takes a few times to easily replace the chin guard. The helmet adjusting knob is too small, feels like it was made for children. It does work to tighten the helmet down, but it puts more pressure on the back of the head than all around. I like the simple click type chinstrap vs the double ring like a motorcycle helmet (which some have) since it is easier to take on and off and this is a bike helmet, not for motocross.The Gopro mount is great, as it actually latches in. I had thought it velcro strapped in, but maybe that was an old version. Overall, a great helmet to give you extra face protection so you don't lose your teeth in a face plant. I ride ATV's and have thanked God at times that I had a good chin guard when my face has slapped to handle bars. I have often been more worried about crashing on my bicycle since asphalt is much less forgiving than dunes, since my protection has been less. I feel better now...

Great helmet, super light. Felt like I wasn’t wearing a full face at all. Airflow is first rate with no whistling . removing the chin guard is simple. Over all one of the best helmets I’ve owned.

I had the previous model and liked it very much. That helmet got damaged in a non-cycling incident and put me back on the market. I have a Bell head, all of their products fit my head well. I've tried other brands and they don't fit as well for me. I wanted to buy the same helmet but decided to pull the trigger on this one. I'm glad I did. This updated model has significantly better ventilation, an easier process for chin bar installation and generally feels much lighter. That said, if you have a functional version of the older model and you like it, I'd probably wait on buying this one. The newer model is great but I don't know that it's a required upgrade. If you need a new helmet, I'd highly recommend this one.
