This took me FOREVER to figure out. And I'm still not 100% certain. It could be HDR signal passing through to a non-HDR device (monitor is not) or it COULD be HDCP protected content causing it to go crazy. But whenever Netflix or Prime video are being played (on any monitor), the monitor attached via this adapter starts blinking. Off for 10 seconds. On for a second. And because Amazon has now taken to playing prime video on their homepage, even getting to this page to write this review (and see that I'm not alone) became challenging. Regardless of the root cause, this works 98% of the time. But that 2% renders it 100% worthless. Sad given it's price, brand name, and how far beyond the return window I am. Oh well. My HP laptop docking station came with two Display Ports and no HDMI outputs. My two monitors have HDMI inputs but no Display Ports. These adapters fixed this issue perfectly! Picture is great for normal work (Microsoft Office applications). I cannot speak for gaming graphics.

First off, Amazon aggregates reviews for various items in this listing, so let's be clear what I'm reviewing: The Belkin DisplayPort -to- HDMI active adapter. This is a one-way converter that takes DisplayPort output from your computer and converts it to HDMI. You'll need an HDMI cable (not included) to then connect to your monitor. It's an active (rather than passive) adapter. This is required if you are using a video card that doesn't intrinsically support DisplayPort++ (DP++). If your card supports DP++, you may not need an active adapter, but it doesn't hurt. (Even if your card supports DP++, it may require an active adapter for use of multiple monitors at the same time). Active adapters (like this one) integrate an IC chip for the conversion process. I tested this using an Nvidia Quadro video card running into a 4K monitor, and it worked fine. One note: The DisplayPort end of the converter does not lock into place. It is easy to insert and remove from the video card, but it could easily be inadvertently pulled out. Many converters incorporate a locking mechanism. You'll need to decide if this is important to you. Decent quality adapter at a decent price. ... show more

Within a week of using it, it randomly and frequently started losing connection, which causes my monitor to flash black and be unusable. I purposely sought out a name brand thinking I could trust the quality. Instead, I found a brand I will never choose again.
