This is a really beautiful Starfish (Seastar) pendant! My kids like for me to have something in my stocking every year so this was a nice little gift from them. :) I wasn't expecting much, given the price, but it really has exceeded my expectations! It comes beautifully packaged in a robin's egg blue box with a white ribbon. The pendant itself isn't huge - it measures just under 1 1/4 inches from the top to its longest "limb." I am very happy with the size, it is big enough to be noticed but still classy and small enough that you could get away with wearing this in pretty much any setting. The blue opal inlay is very well-done and really adds so much color and beauty to this pendant! It also catches the light really well. It is smooth with no rough edges and both the pendant and the chain are stamped "925" indicating that they are both indeed sterling silver. The chain is just simple but I haven't had any problems with it so far. The hole in the pendant for the chain to go through is about 1/4" x 1/8" so there is plenty of room if you wanted to switch it out for a thicker chain. I really love my new necklace. I live in bitter cold Ohio but have dreams of living closer to the beach so wearing it brings back warm, happy thoughts of the sand and surf and makes braving the snow and ice just a little more bearable! :) I purchased this necklace during one of Amazon's Lightning Deals during the holiday season but it wasn't much less than the current sale price. My husband ordered me this necklace for christmas. I had looked at it before but the pucture does not do it justice. I love it!. This necklace is a beautiful, well crafted, unusual piece of jewelry that I liked so much I went back and ordered the matching earrings! The colors are bright blue and green and really sparkles in the sun. The opal is simulated but is just as if not more beautiful than the real ones I have and a whole lot more affordable. I can wear it with jeans, business ordress attire. It was a little larger than I anticipated but its not to big. It comes on an 18" chain. Bought this For my granddaughter for her birthday (age 7) it is killer cute! It's a little bigger than the size of a quarter, the bale is incorporated into the back of the pendant & is big enough for a thicker chain. The chain is decent for a pendant chain, comes in a tiffany blue box & the opal ( faux) gives it a bit of jazz. Good for all ages & didn't have the old lady vibe. Would look great with beach wear or simple jeans & white top. Looks study enough for daily use. I might just buy one for myself & my daughter too. ... show more

This necklace is intended as a gift for a teenage girl. It is very beautiful in person. I was initially concerned when ordering because of the reviews of the chain itself and was skeptical of the quality for the price. When I received the package and opened it I was pleasantly surprised. The starfish is small in size so not very overwhelming. It was exactly what I was looking for (not gaudy). The coloring of the opal is amazing. The girl it is for is from Brazil and loves the beach and the colors are very similar to the beautiful colors of the Caribbean she loves to visit. I knocked a star off because the chain does seem a little on the cheap side and probably would not last long with consistent use. She will likely add this charm to a necklace she already wears so it is not an actual problem for me. The packaging it comes in is very similar to a very high end blue box with white bow every girl dreams of getting, but it is again, a little cheaper in quality (I can see where the box was glued together very easily). I bought this necklace and matching earrings a year ago. I wear them often and get compliments regularly, which pleases me. It's understated and attractive. It is not, however, a real opal (it's $20 something after all). That's not stated in the title, though if you read far enough you'll see it in the description. The actual stone area is limited, so few would notice it's simulated. The sterling is smooth and bright. You can't go wrong with as a gift or for yourself. The packaging, craftsmanship and gift-ability of this necklace is fantastic. Although the description does provide measurements of the pendant, I am disappointed with how small it is. The photo of the pendant in the description makes it look much thicker and much larger. More of a “bold” statement. I do like it and I am going to keep it because we are leaving for vacation in one week, I just wish that the pendant was bigger and wider.
