  • Finally, Something By Beats I Can Endorse
Color: Volt Yellow Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
I work in radio. I've done it for 30+ years and one of the curses/blessings of working with audio is I have grown to understand intimately what really good audio sounds like. I have used countless number of headphones and earbuds (and there 𝙄𝙎 a difference between the two) and there are a few names which stand above the rest, and I'm not going to get into a debate because so-called, 'Audiophiles' will claim they know better (Which begs the question, how does one actually 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 an Audiophile in the first place? Is there a course you can take, or does one simply give themselves that title? But I digress...) when Beats first hit the scene, they were unquestionably an astonishing waste of money. Their audio quality was maybe a shade above average at best. But, that didn't stop millions of people from buying them at outrageous prices. Well, the uncontested King of over-priced products (apple) got wind of this and did a takeover of their products and an interesting thing happened: their quality got BETTER. Did they become as good as most "professional" headphones out there...? Probably not. However, their earbuds did become notably better. I feel it necessary to point out that while Beats headphones were nowhere as good as many claimed, their earbuds from the beginning seemed to be pretty good from the get-go. Their unique "hook" style which wrapped around your ear for a secure fit (you either love this style or not - but you cannot argue that they did not fit and stay in place better than almost any other brand out there). Some of their other wired earbuds were still decent as well, if not priced at the upper end of what most people were willing to pay, but at least the earbuds could be counted on to give you an above average experience. Apple buys them out and reorganizes the entire company. Suddenly they are no longer all over the place like they used to be. Famous people were no longer wearing them everywhere you looked. Then apple releases their Beats branded earbuds, the Powerbeats Pro. Love them or hate them, they made an impact. They were also equipped with apple tech like their H1 chip which made them instantly compatible with iPhones (a pretty smart move, actually) and the audio was excellent, especially for working out. Then they release the Beats Fit Pro. A radically different design. But - a welcome one, especially for someone who loved the Powerbeats great audio quality, but not the hook design. Again, it's hard to please everyone when it comes to something that fits inside your ears that have so many different possible sizes and an almost infinite number of differences from one person to the next...like the apple airpods, one size fit 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩...and if you were one of the people they did not fit, well you were kind of SOL. At least with the Fit Pro they opened up better fitting to a much larger segment than the airpods and with the included wing-tip design, they immediately caught the eye of many athletes who need earbuds which stay put while sometimes being fairly aggressive in their workouts. If you were not a fan of the Powerbeats hook style, the Fit Pro's must have looked like a gift from On High. FIrst off, they really DO sound great. Good bass without going too deep. Music NEEDS good bass, but if it thumps too hard, it will ruin audio in more ways than I can describe here. Mids and Highs were also both pretty crisp and not overly isolated. The blend just works. Whoever tuned the Fit Pro should be commended for doing such a great job. ANC was...disappointing. To be fair, to get great ANC into such a tiny device really IS a challenge and oftentimes going all-in on this feature usually means you sacrifice audio quality. In this case, Beats chose to put more into the audio than into the ANC. I had a difficult time even recognizing that it was even turned on at all. Maybe my pair simply isn't doing it's job. However, the OnePlus buds Z2 has ANC that is actually pretty good and still has really impressive audio as well, so I'm not exactly sure why the Fit Pro's is so difficult to even tell if ANC is on or off, but I can only review what I have and that seems to be the case with my particular pair. The wing-tip design really works well - for me at least. They provide a pretty good fit and they stay put incredibly well. My biggest problem with earbuds is exactly that. Either they'll fit well, or almost not at all. It doesn't seem to fall anywhere in between. My OnePlus buds Z2 sound great, but I constantly find myself adjusting them in my ears - which honestly is annoying. The Fit Pro's (at least in my case) I set them in, twist to secure the wing-tip and they just stay put. This is going to be subjective since everyone is slightly different, so keep in mind my experience with how they fit in my ear may not mirror your own. You can do a little customizing with the app. I do have an iPhone but I primarily use an android, so I downloaded the app and you can to a bit of customizing, however, not as much as I would have liked to have seen given what these earbuds are capable of. I believe the iPhone integration has quite a bit more options than the android counterpart. This seems to be more the norm these days as apple and Samsung work hard to reward you for buying products that are more in line with their products than the competition. I wish they'd both put an end to this childish bickering and open up all their products that can be used on other platforms to include all the options that they would have if you paired it with an iPhone or a Samsung. Either you want your customers to get the best bang for their buck or not. I like the physical buttons the Fit Pro uses. You'll know by touch that you've pressed it instead of simply the "touch" controls which in my experience can be hit or miss. When they work great, it's awesome. But do they all work perfectly every time? Of course not. With buttons, they seem to work pretty much 100% of the time and that's something I appreciate. No wireless charging. At this point, especially for the cost, that really is something they should have included. Is it a deal breaker? For some it very well could be. It wasn't for me, but I love wireless charging and think every pair of wireless earbuds over $100 really ought to include it. I know earbuds that cost under $40 that do, so to not include it here seems to be almost an insult. They use USB-C charging which IS convenient however. Beats claims they have fast charging however, in fact they call it "Fast Fuel" where just 5 minutes of charging will net you an hour of listening...I haven't been able to check this, but I CAN state that they do seem to charge pretty quick, so that may negate some of the disappointment of not having wireless ability, but necessarily so. The case is pretty nice, too. It is quite a bit smaller than the case for the Powerbeats, but still larger than what you get with the airpods. I honestly didn't mind the size at all, so this one is also going to be pretty subjective. For the most part, these are the first apple made earbuds that I can recommend even if you own an android device. The audio is stellar and they seem to hold a charge for about an average length of time for earbuds of this size. I rarely listen for more than about an hour, maybe 2 at the most, so I'm not the guy to look for with advice on listening at length (unless it's for headphones, then I can make a LOT of recommendations). Honestly, I'm happy with mine. Are they perfect? No. But are they worth it? I sure think so. ***UPDATE*** I purchased some memory foam eartips...not sure that this was a wise decision. Not because they don't work or fit well, but because they are slightly larger, it means fitting them back into the charging case either they won't charge or they'll be problematic to fit properly. Now, in all fairness, this wasn't an issue with the smallest foam eartips, but the medium and larger ones did not like to fit back into the case. They also did not really make any noticeable difference is audio quality, so I switched back to the original tips they came with. Lesson learned. ... show more

  • A perfect match! A perfect match!
Color: Dune Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
Finally, A perfect match! I ordered the dune and It blends well with my skin tone and compliments a lot of my wardrobe. Headphones may be something I wear every day, but I don’t put a lot of thought into how they look, only if they can deliver better sound than the headphones I was wearing last month or the month before. While many of us want better performance from our earbuds, these buds have become a fashion accessory for me. We are leaving the times of primary colored headphones and entering an era that caters to women in the tech industry. The compact case is smooth and has a very pleasing snap when you open and close it, as well as the magnetic snatch that grabs the headphones back into their slots. The active noise cancellation is INCREDIBLE. I am still testing them out. But so far, I like them better than the Beats Studio buds. I use them mostly for privacy when on phone calls especially when I’m using FaceTime or video calls. I also use them to listen to music while working out and for ebooks when I’m doing household chores. The spatial audio head tracking feature is bananas! The sound quality is great. Currently, I’m using the preset mode, but eventually I’ll try playing around with the settings to get the optimal experience. I love how seamlessly these air buds pair with my Apple products. They fit snugly in my Ears and are very comfortable. Everyone’s ears are different, but you can adjust the earbuds until you find the perfect fit. It also comes with a variety of eartips for comfort. Also included is the USB-C cable for charging. You will however need an adapter. Sure, you can find decent earbuds for less, but these are definitely worth the splurge. I got mine during Amazon Prime day, so that knocked a few bucks of the MSRP. Another major thing I love is that they come with a warranty. Can’t beat that! I hope this was helpful! ... show more

  • Excellent headphones!
Color: Dune Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
This was my first time purchasing headphones at a $200 price point, and definitely worth it! They arrived quickly with no issues and the packaging was great. The headphones are absolutely beautiful and true to color. The case is pretty cheap and plastic feeling (nothing like the apple cases) but I was more concerned about the quality of the headphones which these did not disappoint. They connect to your iOS immediately, have great noise cancellation, and the sound quality is on point, especially if you’re over buying cheap headphones but are not quite ready to drop $300+. The charge cord is very short, and I wish it was a nude cord, BUT if you have an iPad Pro you can charge your headphones with your iPad (maybe this is the reason for the short cord so you can easily charge without needing an outlet). At 90% iPad batt life, my headphones charged up to 100% very quickly, and that was after me using them for an entire work day. In the past, I bought a pair of beats that were very painful in my ear (and have been an apple girl ever since), but these are super comfortable! I’ve worn them for hours with no issues and I love the nude look! I did go with the smallest bud options (you get 3 sizes), and I did notice once you sweat or get wax on the headphones they will slip out. Just use a tech safe dry cloth to wipe and clean them down, and you’ll be all set. Also, the touch feature is quite sensitive so carefully adjust them in your ear, so as not to accidentally hang up a call, which I have done a few times, but with practice it’s not been a big deal. If the price tag makes you cringe, treat yourself with these! I’m not a big Kim k fan at all but I’m glad she helped bring these to market!! You’ll love these headphones! ... show more

  • Decent pair of buds
The fitment is the best on any bud that I’ve ever owned. Sleek wingtip design. The coral pink stands out. After 2 hours of working out, my ears don’t feel uncomfortable at all. The H1 chip makes connecting super fast to my iPhone. The bass is deep on these, but, the highs are unfortunately too much for my little head. Though, I could hear everything with nice clarity. The case feels a bit cheap and bulky. I wish the personalization was better, specifically for the button controls and built-in EQ for iPhone. Noise cancellation is OK, not the best in the biz ... show more

  • Love these earbuds!
Color: Volt Yellow Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
I’ve had Beats headphones in the past, but they were both over ear headphones and only one of the two pairs I had were Bluetooth. I love these just as much as my previous pairs! I’ve never head completely wireless Bluetooth ears buds until these. I was thinking about getting these kind of earbuds for a while and when my sister bought her own pair and recommended these I was sold after seeing what they can do. I love the noise cancelling possibility, and how I can still choose to hear what’s around me. Beats sound quality has always been great in my previous over ear headphones and these don’t disappoint. They connected instantly and were easily set up for the best possible quality with my iPhone. Everything sounds amazing and I love listening to music in spatial audio with them. The battery life is great. So far a charge has lasted me around two weeks. (Though there are days when I don’t use them at all in those two weeks.) Lastly the color is my favorite thing about them! The Volt Yellow is so vibrant and bright I love the buds and case and how much they stand out. The only complaints I’d have about them are the comfort of the buds in your ear and the case. It takes time to get used to the way you put them in your ear. And at first the feeling was a little uncomfortable and left my ear sore. After more use my ears no longer feel sore unless I wear them for prolonged periods of time. For the case it feels like it could be a little sturdier. It’s flip top feels lightweight and makes me nervous it will break or crack. I’ve had no issues so far I just wished it felt more heavy duty. I’m going to buy a protective case to be safe. ... show more

  • 10/10 earbuds, 3/10 case
Color: Earth Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
I've had these for about ten weeks now. I use them for blocking the construction happening in the building next to mine (it is very successful, to my surprise), taking calls with loved ones (the mic was apparently a massive improvement on a couple of Pixel (4 XL) and Samsung phones I had in a couple of different cases), and listening to music, podcasts, and my PS4 for films, cartoons, and video games where audio is key. They pair seamlessly and I've only had trouble with connecting if I've forgotten to turn disconnect them from another device. (They will only pair with one device at a time.) I didn't like the little plastic nubs it came with (although I was glad to see they were the same color as the rest of the headphones; I love this hue), so I put in some foam ones I had from other earbuds instead. The noise cancellation is weaker for it because it's further from an airtight seal with my ear due to the foam, but I find it worth it to have that for the comfort in my inner ear. Overall they're pretty comfortable; I've noticed some slight soreness after long 5+ hour flights but that's it, and there are enough variations on exactly how they sit in your ear to ease one sore spot while still keeping the buds in. I've never felt like they might fall out of my ears regardless of bud tips, which was a big requirement for me. I love these so much I convinced my partner to get a pair too. I don't like that the case is a) so slippery b) seems easily scratched and c) is so lightweight. The buds don't magnetize into their charging positions as other earbuds I've had do and the case has a tendency to feel like at any given moment my attempt to juggle it like wet soap will fail and it will fall and inevitably break because it's so fragile. I wound up making a case for my case. It's silly. I had to get a $13 dongle (which included an old 3.5mm headphone dongle; i got the zamia for PS4) to connect this newer Bluetooth technology to my PS4 and my 2013 MacBook Pro, which was successful on the PS4 for audio and mic but only effective for audio (no mic) on my laptop. ... show more

  • Great Headphones
Color: Tidal Blue Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
The headphones work perfectly and have a great sound. Being able to use noise cancellation or transparency, having Siri and the microphone in them, and being able to skip rewind and pause without my phone is very helpful. They are very secure in your ear and don’t fall out easily, I run with them and have no problems. It also has a very long battery life so I only charge them once or twice a month even with frequent use. My one issue is with the mesh cover for them that keeps dirt from getting into the speaker. It fell out very easily and you can’t just replace it because it’s considered a major part, but even without them they still work great. ... show more

  • Not blown away
Color: Dune Style: Fit Pro Set: Without AppleCare+
So this was my first pricey earbud purchase and I may have gotten my hopes up just a bit. I don’t use earbuds too often so I would usually just get cheaper ones off Amazon. Short story time: I had a pair of boltune Bluetooth earbuds (like $30) that I ordered years ago. They went through HELL. My dog chewed the case up which caused it to crack and the right earbud was a goner. They then lived in my purse for 2 years, making the cracks worse so the case was literally hanging on by the wires. I was still able to charge the case and use the left earbud so that’s what I did when I needed to (trail walks, mowing the grass, etc). I really liked the fit in my ear and the sound. Well earlier this week I was walking the trail and a vengeful yellow jacket came out of nowhere and made me its bitch. I got stung twice and in the midst of the running, cussing, screaming, and flailing, I knocked my lucky left earbud loose and ran for the car. Now this was the first time I’ve ran postpartum, 6 weeks after my c section. That’s not important but needless to say I was NOT going back into that 12th ring of hell risking another battle with the king of stingers to grab my earbud. I lost a dear friend that day. But I used this opportunity (and my first Mother’s Day whoop whoop) to treat myself to some Beats. I did soooo much research to justify the money I’d be spending, and these vs AirPods Pro. The case is terrible. Flimsy and feels like it’s about to snap off the hinge (and doesn’t compare to the integrity of my case of those boltunes—even chewed and cracked!) but that was expected based off other reviews. Still should be higher quality for the brand and price. Cute color, dune. Really unassuming when you wear them. The sound is good. Again, not blown away or anything. $30 pair sounded pretty similar but I’m no audiophile. Noise cancellation is pretty good, but not super impressive. Doesn’t block out everything, just dulls it. Spatial audio sounds cool though. The connection is wonky. I tested them out on the walking trail today. For whatever reason it skips a little and cuts out on my Spotify even though my phone was in my pocket. Not sure what that’s all about. I’ve never had that issue with other earbuds. They did stay put in my ears. That’s the one solid thing about these earbuds: I didn’t find myself having to readjust them constantly. BUT the winged tip started bugging me after about an hour. My ears were a little sore. I’m still not sure if I want to keep them or not. I mean $170 on sale.. I’d just expect better. ... show more
