I came to know Bill Gentry through his exceptional work with the Center for Creative Leadership. Most leaders don't get formal leadership training until 42 or later if ever -- so leadership learning is survival of the fittest. Bill's passion for helping new leaders be successful from the get go boosts leader confidence and reduces the chaos for seasoned leaders with full plates. Moving from individual contributor to manager is not just a leap in level. It's a categorically different job. This book does a great job of highlighting the science supporting why managers need to shift their focus from self to others and provides great anecdotes and practical examples of how to become successful in the move. Great book on leadership. Got to hear author discuss it on a zoom meeting and he is a sharp shooter with upper management written all over him.

    • Awesome book, a tad redundant.
The advice and guidelines in this book are amazing. It has truly helped me and gave me a new look on managing. Although, the author is very repetitive with a few phrases it’s still a great read!
