Edit- Going from 1 star to 4. Customer support got back to me in about 12 hours with a great list of troubleshooting ideas. One of the suggestions worked and I ended up getting a 28 foot range. My only issue is that I had to struggle with the set up, reach out for help, and wait an additional 12 hours for assistance. Why couldn’t this troubleshooting list be provided in the instructional manual? The manual’s support was useless. My suggestion is put the emailed list in the manual. Overall the product is working well so far. I bought the camera and monitor kit along with a second camera to have a front and rear set up. Everything worked exactly as described when the cameras and monitor were less than 2 feet apart during my initial test. I was initially really excited by how cool this technology was. I installed the one camera to my license plate and went back to the car to adjust the view. I noticed that channel 1 was blinking red with a black screen. Channel 2 was still working, however. I decided to take the first camera off of the mount and re-pair it. Before I could re-pair, the camera came in instantly. I went back to the mount and checked the monitor, same issue. I decided to swap out camera 1 for camera 2, same issue. My next test was to move both cameras away from the monitor foot by foot. Around 8 feet they both lose connection. I found this odd as both cameras and monitor had the QC sticker attached. The product manual states a much longer range and reviews say these cameras work on campers all the way to the towing vehicle. I have sent a message to the manufacturer, the seller, called Amazon support, and Amazon tech support. So far Amazon support wants me to keep waiting in hopes the seller or manufacture respond.     • Easy solution to installing backup camera

The Auto-Vox wireless backup camera system provided an easy solution to a very expensive OEM upgrade to having a backup camera installed into my 2013 Porsche Boxster. Replacing the head unit was not an option as the radio in so integrated into the cars other functions that replacing the head unit just to have a rear view video was not practical. Another problem to avoid was tapping into the cars wiring; the CAN bus which controls the lighting systems of the car is very sensitive to deviations from the original voltage levels the computers expect to see. A wireless solution avoids messing with these sensitive signals. I ran a hardwired power solution to my fuse panel to power the monitor. The monitor is mounted just above the radio on a magnetic cell phone mount which I modified slightly to accept the monitor. Each time the car is started the monitor powers up and displaces the last selected camera being viewed (I purchased the dual camera system and have a front facing camera as well). Once the monitor times out you either must restart the car or depress one of the monitor's buttons to require the video image. You also use the same buttons to switch to the front facing camera (comes in handy to avoid hitting parking blocks, etc.) The cameras require their batteries to be charged via USB cabling about every 3 to 6 months (depends on usage) and takes no more than 4 hours. I did loose sync with the rear camera at one point due to not charging up the battery soon enough. This caused me to re pair the camera back to the monitor. I was doing it incorrectly and contacted customer service via email and Vicki (very helpful) guided me through the steps and I was back up and running in less than 5 minutes. Overall after about 15 months of ownership I am very happy with the solution this camera system provides. I do wish the camera image resolution was higher. I also noted that the rear camera body has turned a bronze color now either from the sun or exhaust gases as compared to the front camera remaining black. ... show more

I bought the Auto-vox wireless backup camera a yr ago. It just stopped working. I had contacted customer support, got an answer back the next day !! Nice surprise. I explained my problem and what I had done to trouble shoot the problem. I was handed off to Vicki who had a couple things for me to try. That didn't work either. Vicki replied with a new email. She had already ordered a new camera and had a delivery date of within the week !!! This is my second time buying from Auto-vox and will continue to be a customer! I really love this camera it was really clear well lit at night, despite being useless in the rain i really loved it. everything was good until a week go when i bought the solar upgrade. i installed w screws and it was secure. i only use the came to see how close i am cars, not really for the full parallel park I just prefer to use my mirrors but don’t want to tap in close spots, so I didn’t notice it immediately but one day I was getting into a tight spot in my camera did not cut on. So I went to with a check in the solar panel was gone, i don’t know how but it was. i checked to see if the camera was still working wrong it turned on thankfully. i went to reconnect and it did so i went on, planning to reach out about the solar panel but when i did went to turn it on and it was disconnected again. i tried reconnecting but now it won’t. im not sure how to fully get in contact but i will soon because i did purchase warranty as well UPDATE: this happened a while ago but i forgot to edit. the seller reached out to me and offered to send me a new camera and solar panel. i received it pretty fast and secured them onto each other. i did take the screw from my non working camera and used it as a second screw for the other while on the other side. i’m not really sure why they don’t send the panel w another screw, it would make it so much more secure to the camera. but after doing that and installing, it’s been solid as normal. the picture quality is still amazing and the guidelines take some getting used to considering i only really use this to make sure i don’t bump any one while parking. i would def recommend. oh also i wish they made like a lip for the camera lens, bc in the rain, the drops can sit and block the view but a quick wipe will make it go away ... show more
