  • A solid game, technically polished and smart combat design with vast play space
I came into Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4) with a tech-nerd’s eye for systems, and for the most part, it delivers. The graphics are gorgeous — Gotham feels alive, moody, and densely detailed — and the lighting + weather effects really sell the noir vibe. the combat and stealth mechanics remain tight and satisfying, and the way the game layers tools, predator play, and takedowns shows a mature design sensibility. That said, the Batmobile aspects are a double-edged sword: in theory, they’re a cool extension to the toolkit, but in practice the “Battle Mode” sections feel a bit forced and sometimes drag when you’d rather be prowling rooftops. Also, the narrative doesn’t always land — toward the end the plot veers into murky territory, and the pacing gets uneven. Overall though, if you’re into technical polish, smart combat design, and a vast play-space to explore, it’s a satisfying capstone to the Arkham trilogy. ... show more

  • Great Game
When this game came out, it was 100% the reason I bought an Xbox One. (Yes this is for PS4). All of the Arkham games by Rocksteady are some of the best games on the market. I recently got a PS5 and decided to buy the game again for PlayStation because the graphics are slightly better and the game is totally worth it. I haven’t popped it into the PS5 yet, I will in December 2023 when they release the new THE BATMAN skin, and can play as the Robert Pattinson version of Batman. As far as the game goes: the story is great, the gameplay is exactly what we’re used to in the other games, which is improved every time. The replay value is good. The Batmobile stuff is fun, driving and tank mode (it does go on a little long at times, but not enough to ruin the game). ... show more

  • Give the Batmobile a chance!
This game is likely to split the audience with its insistence that the players experience the heretofore absent Batmobile in an integral role, which means learning to drive it, battle with it, and of course, dedicate skill points to upgrading it. This may sit poorly with fans of the first couple of Batman games looking to launch the Bat to lofty combat prowess without losing the points to do that to other pursuits. For my money though, the Batmobile combat system was absolutely awesome once I got the hang of it. I would personally play a game designed entirely around the tank-fight mechanic given the same control system. My cup of tea, maybe yours as well. Also, to be fair the game is not devoid of Batman doing Batman things and even includes one of the most entertaining Boss fights ever that in no way involves the seemingly ubiquitous Batmobile. For the price, this should be well worth the try from Batman fans and gamers, though anyone averse to driving type games will be better served avoiding this title. ... show more
