    • Works for what its made for. Small buckets of product.
This is a decent mixer for smaller buckets as it says 1-3 gallons or a mixing a some product in 5 gallon bucket like cement or morter. Mine was a little bent at the blade but a little force it aligned up. Feels sturdy for the size its meant for. I used it to mix about 2 gallons of cement to repair a crack and worked great. For the price i think its a good purchase but make sure it suits your needs or maybe spend a little more to get a longer one. ... show more

I used this for mixing paint and it did a great job. This would not hold up to mixing mortar or any heavy "mud" like concrete. The thin vanes would get bent due to the light construction of this. The paint is nice and makes for easy clean up. The design of this means that the paint will be mixed well after only a couple minutes of mixing. This is much nicer than mixing with a stick, just don't expect it to hold up to mixing 'mud' such as mortar unless the mortar is very wet. ... show more

Its a great mixer for the price, but too short. I use this to mix mortar and Quikrete in a bucket. Even after a few mixes the paint is still holding on (surprising since I use stone in my Quikrete mix. I will agree with other reviewers on here that this is way to short if your using a full five gallon bucket. I do smaller jobs so this works great for me since I only use about 1/3 to 3/4 of a full bucket when I am mixing. My mortar is actually in a even smaller bucket which gives me plenty of room to mix up and down. ... show more

The Bates Paint Mixer is a great tool to have in your arsenal when working on small projects that require mixing paint or other materials. I have used it with 1-gallon buckets and it works flawlessly, creating a smooth and consistent mixture every time. The mixer easily attaches to a drill, and the blades are durable enough to withstand heavy use. However, I do agree with other reviewers that this mixer is not optimal when used with 5-gallon buckets. The mixer length is too short, making it difficult to keep the drill clean and free from splatters. It may be better to use a larger mixer specifically designed for 5-gallon buckets in this case.
