Well I got this for my three year old who actually can hit pretty consistently. My son assembled it and he said that it was easier than expected @ about 40 minutes. When I first saw the batting cage put up I didn't know what to think of it. The net looked thin and I wasn't sure how stable that the setup would be. The batting cage ended up being a little better than I originally thought, but the worries that I listed above were somewhat merited. The cage is stable enough for my three year old and hopefully will be for years. But any sort of even mild abusive or negligent treatment or pretty heavy wind will take it down fairly easily. I think that the batting cage is a pretty good value and can be a good training tool for the younger set. But just don't expect too much! ... show more

With 2 teenagers who have made softball their lives, having a batting cage in the backyard is an amazing boon. I got this because I wanted to give the girls space to practice, and to have something for them to do now that summer is coming up. This cage was pretty easy to set up, and is a good size. For how big it is when all set up, it's also super storable, which is ideal. I can easily fit this in the front seat of my car for transport. This is not something you want to get if you are a seasoned ballplayer or plan on using it for a long time, consistently or for a team. This is a one person practice kind of net to have in your backyard and not to leave out season after season. Unfortunately, the netting is a bit thin and it's not secured at every end to prevent from fraying over time. It's an okay net for a youth, but beyond 11-12 it is a little hinky. The netting is thinner than my other netting. I didn't measure, but my other is 3mm (#30 - #36 range), so I'd say this is in the #21 range. It doesn't appear coated, so not sure how long it will last outdoors, but 2 year warranty is nice and they say it is outdoor rated, so for the price it's not a bad deal. The stands are what worry me as they don't look like they'd take a direct hit of a baseball without significant damage. Also with Texas wind, they don't really stand a chance here. A few guy wires can help this significantly against wind. Overall it is an okay net and for younger kid is okay. Don't be fooled by pictures as at 8-9 years old with pitching machine, they are 46ft away. This can work with those little air soft ball throwers. ... show more

We set this up in our backyard as a rebounder for lacrosse, and it's been awesome. We already have a few nets, but this one lets our son throw and catch at a much faster pace without chasing missed balls across the yard. We went with the 10x10x16 size, and it's perfect—if you miss, the ball stays inside the cage instead of disappearing under the bushes. Setup was surprisingly easy, no tools needed, and we had it ready to go in under half an hour. It feels sturdy, especially with the ground stakes and tripod base, and it’s held up well through windy days. The net itself seems durable and handles high-speed throws no problem. Even though we’re mainly using it for lacrosse, it's clearly built for more—baseball and softball practice would be just as effective. Great to have something this versatile that works for different sports and seasons. got this for my nephews to use in the backyard! They love it! It took me a while to set it up but it was worth it in the end! The net isn't the strongest but for the kids it's fine, if it were for an adult with a lot of power behind the bat it would likely not last to long though.
