I am 5’3” and I love that it has the ability to be shorter. It is the perfect length for me to use. I was surprised by the quality and the sturdiness.     • Saved me tons of time!
Easy to install and when screws fully torqued quite sturdy and durable. So glad I bought this, I’m trying to tear out my lawn and replace it with drought resistant ground cover, I was shoveling into the hard desert Sandy clay loam, and this thing helped me break up the ground to get to the softer stuff in order to turn the soil and remove competitors for the space. This is great for being able to safely till with sprinkler heads and lines around as you can decide the depth you want to go at a location. I was able to turn the soil and pull out turf and weeds in about a quarter of the time of trying with a shovels and probably 10 times less physical demand. This sticks into the ground well, and with a twist turns about an 8 inch diameter circle of ground. Definitely suggest wearing gloves though, the twisting of a bar parallel to the ground rubs on some weird spots that don’t have much callus, ended with some nasty blisters ... show more

    • Very Useful Thus Far
Gave 4-stars only because I don’t feel the bolts tighten properly enough to prevent eventual breakage. However, as a 54 year old, and not in the best shape, I have used this manual tiller to help break up heavily rooted soil (after removing the top vegetation and turning with shovel as I am able). It works best to amend soil, although has proven itself to aid in root and rock loosening in a suburban environment. It does promote blisters when overused - even with gloves, but no more than any other manual tool (shovel, rake, hoe, mower, spade, shears, pruners etc). My 4-stars, instead of 5, is that the places where it is joined with bolts are loose, they will need retightening- and then checked again. Initial review - works 5-star to amend soil, 4-star to aide in initial tilling. ... show more

Wow this tool really does the job. Im So impressed and wish I had one years ago. This one was on sale and why I choose it, It came I. Pieces and was extremely easy to assemble. It’s super strong.     • It Works But I Don't
This thing is a wonder! It reaches deep into the soil, then just give it a twist and up come the rocks and hard clay soil that have ruined my gardening life and my back. Two things you should know: I used it on soil I had already loosened by hand. I just wanted something to finish the job with an extra oomph. And it had a lot of oomph. The other thing is that I am 73 years old with osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. So . . . well . . . it works but I don't work so well any more. It's a sturdy piece though. Takes a lot of strength. I used it today to break up some really hard ground, it worked like a charm! So glad that I bought this and I will use it again soon as I work in amendments so I can get something to grow in this area. New grass flowers coming soon!

    • The world is a better place now
There was a time in my life that I had to turn to archaic garden tools like shovels and hoes. I thought I was destined to live out my days hacking at the dirt with the primitive tools invented by our ancestors. The older I got, the harder it became to perform simple tasks like touching my toes, and math. I knew at this time I must embark on my journey of self betterment. It was a long and difficult path filled with highs and lows. From the time I lost my temper and roto-tilled the entire garden, to the day I broke my shovel and began digging with my bare hands. I remember looking up and shouting to the heavens "WHY GOD WHY? There must be a better way." That was a hard day. This was the day when I had nearly lost all hope. In anguish, I hopped on Amazon randomly searching for things like Unicorn Kitten socks, anything to put a smile on my face, when I stumbled across this tool. I couldn't believe my eyes. Could this be what I've been searching for for so long? I spent no delay and opted to Buy it Now. I remember breaking into a cold sweat the day it arrived. I quickly opened the package, set the height, and ran out to the garden. I was amazed! Not only did it easily turn up the soil, the repetitive twisting motion gave the appearance that I was dancing at the same time. I won't deny that I may have sung a little jingle while I was at it. Not only is it easier for me to work the compacted soil, my friends and neighbors are entertained as well. I have had a Garden Golden Claw for about 10 years and wanted to purchase one for my daughter to use in her garden. I assumed (dummy me) this one would be comparable with what I bought for myself. I visited to help my daughter and it was used for the first time (by me) and it was really hard to twist those weeds out of the soil. Unfortunately I injured my shoulder and have been doing PT since. When I got better I used my Garden Golden Claw in her garden and there was no comparison. Do not buy this. It's awful! ... show more
