I have POTS and take medication that makes me very prone to heat stroke. We went to Italy this summer (missed both heat waves- thank God!) and I was worried about the sun. We didn’t check bags so I needed a compact parasol and decided to get this one. It was PERFECT. I loved that it has its own carrying case and I had no problems opening or closing it as needed. It 100% made a HUGE difference while touring the Colosseum and then Roman Ruins which are ALL sun. If I hadn’t had this, I would not have been able to visit those places. The UV blockage means that I couldn’t feel the sun beating down on me like I do when I move used just a regular umbrella in the past. I have not used this for rain yet (we are in a drought) but I plan to keep it in my car since (again) it’s compact and has its own carrying case. Love it! ... show more

It is super compact and comes in a semi-hard shell zippered case. The color is as described. It packs super well and folds back onto its compact shape with a little work. The handle length is just a little short. This was a reorder as my last one the screw on handle with the wrist cord fell off within the first hour. I will put a dab of glue on the new one. It is not super sturdy so if it is windy it will turn inside out easily. I use mine as a sun shade and use it while floating in a pool. I love the dark underside -- and yes-- it is a less temp in direct sunlight. Not a bad travel umbrella... just not made for wind. ... show more

This umbrella has pros and cons. The opening and closing mechanism was a little rough. The glide to open isn't as smooth as I would like. I also had to be sort of rough with it to close the umbrella. It doesn't seem built to last. Having said all that, I still think it will be good for my needs. I wanted a small umbrella for a trip I'm taking. I plan to do a lot of outdoor walking and don't want to wear a hat the whole time. This umbrella folds up to be compact and has a sturdy case to store it in. It fit nicely inside my travel purse and will take hardly any space in my carry on luggage. I also like the interior lining. It is very thick and will provide a lot of sun protection. ... show more

Cute and compact. Portable. Handle a bit short (but such is the portable design). It gives decent coverage however compact. The company Baodini includes a little notification in the umbrella of a 'lifetime replacement promise'-- which is honorable and speaks to good customer service. I bought this for sunshade on walks post a facial procedure. I got this because I could likely stuff it in an overalls pocket mid walk, if necessary. I ordered two different umbrellas, this and another of a different brand, and I'm torn a bit between the two. This one is flimsier but more portable. (Hmm. So the jury is still out on which I will go with.) The short handle feels a bit effortful in keeping umbrella raise. In saying all, this is a decent little umbrella. It does what it was designed to do. It's more appealing in real life even than in the ad. And, hey, lilac is a good color. ... show more

I purchased this to use and an all day outdoor sporting event, a multi day event in the summer in Florida. I wanted some sun protection that was more cool to use than having to wear a big hat. I was able to stand out in the direct sun, but have shade under me. It covered my whole body. It is very easy and fast to open and close. This function really well. I had no problems with this. It was durable and worked for me. I also love the low cost. I’m not a hat person, they make me feel hotter. I love how small this is and I love the case. I was able to clip this case onto my travel purse so that it hung from the purse and was easy to access when I needed it. The size of this umbrella is great for travel and it fits easily in a purse or tote bag. I also like that it comes with a case and offers sun protection in addition to rain coverage. Unfortunately, mine was very difficult to open the first few times I used it. It took more force than I expected, which was frustrating for such a compact travel umbrella. It also had a very strong chemical/plastic odor when I first took it out of the package. I had to leave it open outside to air out for a couple of days before the smell became tolerable. Once opened, it worked as intended, but the difficult opening mechanism and strong odor took away from the overall experience.
