Before getting this I was using a metal whisk, which technically worked, however, it made bigger bubbles, which popped quickly. Since getting this bamboo whisk, I am able to have actual foam in my matcha. The foam lasts a long time, I drink quite slowly, so this is a huge plus for me! It blended so well! No bitterness at all. Works great! Be sure to follow the instructions on the box to keep it working well.

When in Rome do as the Romans do, right? Of course this isnt technically “Rome...” it’s more of a Japanese thing that doesn’t involve men in kimonos wielding swords or cartoon girls of questionable ages of consent. And I can try it without being scowled at and judged, or worse being incarcerated... so I thought, why not? It works really well to froth up and cool a type of tea that I wasn’t really aware would have given both Juan Valdez and his coffee bean laden mule massive coronaries. Good stuff though, and pretty authentic equipment I’ve been told by my one Japanese friend who comes over occasionally. His exact words were, “Tell me again, please... why exactly did you buy this?” “Ah, good... very traditional. Let me show you how this... what are you doing? No, put that down and pay attention please.” “No... this tea is very strong... Do not gulp it... Wait, you haven’t eaten any food yet? Oh, my...”

While I am happy to use my pastry chef skills whisking a beautiful froth on my matcha, I begin as usual with my hand whisking and then put the finishing touch with the electric device. It works beautifully. I have many whisks and some very narrow diameters need an extra strip of alien tape to widen their diameter. It works perfectly. I purchased a more expensive version and it had such a narrow aperture which did not accept most of my whisks. I sent it back without using it. This one, reasonably priced is a winner. Highly recommend.
